Tysm for the tag @Kiwi2016 :)

Great theme/question Fleurise and wow that's a really great & inspiring story about what your kitty did for you when there was a fire like that.

I think all the animals I've had in my life (in terms of total number of pets I've had it's 5 now, 4 cats & 1 dog) have shown compassion in their own unique ways, and that to me is profound cos of the level of unconditional love they have. I find them so easy to love for that reason and many others, they are healing by their very nature imo. I think of all my pets the ones I've had by far the deepest connection with are the 2 I have right now. The older one is 17 & I've lived with her for a total of 10 of those years but we definitely have a pretty unique understanding which is very special and powerful. My friend has said more than once that he's noticed we are kind of similar in a lot of ways (me & my older cat I mean lol). My other kitty is still a kitten & we've only had her for a couple months but I feel an almost equal level of connection with her already cos of certain things she's done. One thing that really showed me just what a sweet, loving & sensitive kitty she is happened a couple weeks ago. I was looking at art on an art site & I was feeling so deeply inspired by it and I swear she totally picked up on the pure, sincere power of the energy & jumped right up beside me on the desk. It was just the way she did it that really seemed to communicate to me that she did that like that cos of the energy. Not sure if that would make sense to anyone but it does to me anyway :)

Have had lots of people show me compassion in various ways in my life also and again the fact that they made such choices at all is profound to me. I do not tend to forget when people are kind or caring to me in some way cos that is how much it means to me. Maybe I'm a bit too sentimental that way and there is a major downside to being so intensely affected by kindness like that which is when the opposite happens. I'm working on all of that though as I have been for many years but I think after the last week I am getting a whole new understanding of just how extremely important it is to have a lot more balance with that kind of thing.

Thank you for the invite @Fleurise
she offers to go for walks with me because I'm always alone
Hey Petal I read all of what you wrote but I am quoting this particular part of what you said cos I just wanted to say wow that is really an incredible person who would do such a thing like that. I'm not sure what part of the world you live in but I think I would like to live next door to you cos I've gone out alone so many bloody times & if anyone has ever even noticed (very doubtful) they have never been so kind & caring to take the time out to say anything like that to me. Oh ok wait I just thought of what a very possible reason could be for that, not sure of her age & yours but that doesn't always matter that much but I'm guessing you are probably quite pretty or something. People notice (and care about, it seems) pretty people way more often than more average (or below average) looking people, not saying that IS what inspired it cos that would be making a lot of assumptions of course, just that it's almost always at least a bit of a factor when someone does such a thing. It also def. helps me understand why it has never happened to me from a random person & most likely never will, oh well if it ends up bringing the end for me sooner then it will be their loss not mine :)

I had birds and they were comforting, never saved me though per se. I'd say that being a member of this site and receiving so much support and kindness from people over the years has been profound and has saved me from taking the final step.

One hour left of my Friday and I've been really busy today.

Thought today it would be good to reflect. Have you ever had a animal or person show you compassion and help you in a way that was profound?

For me I've had a couple of instances that come to mind. One will stick with me forever. I owned a cat named Patrick and lived on my own in a house with a fireplace. It was late afternoon and I was sleepy so went for a nap.
Patrick woke me up jumping on my chest, the house was full of smoke to just below the mattress. I'm grateful Patrick jumped on me. It's not something he would usually do.

Come join in cafe and bring some food please, too late for me to eat but I know some of you will be wanting breakfast.

I have a similar story. when I was about 7 or 8 years old, spending the night at a friend's house....the dog woke us in the middle of the night to get us out of the house.. It was on fire..... from the fireplace.......so that is the 3rd dimension.....
I also believe that 2 of my dogs in the past 10 years took on illness/healing for me when that became part of my life journey.......Animals are amazing

Thanks for the invite Fleur :)

My baby boy (dog) Ollie has been by my side for a year and 4 months and he's the best decision I've made. I recently had a breakdown and felt like a crappy mommy for neglecting to brush him and bathe him regularly so I tried to give him a haircut (he's a maltese pom) but I realized that I was doing a shit job and pulled a Britney Spears circa 2007 and accidentally cut off so much hair. I kept apologizing and he just sat on the chair and kept kissing me sensing my distress. I joke about how he's an emotional support dog despite zero training and the fact that he's usually hyperactive and not very behaved. He's literally the love of my life and I dont know where I'd be if it werent for him. There were times when I'd try to attempt but he'd look at me or run up to me and I'd realize that I cant leave him behind.

Come join @Cynic Goat @Buddy4 @Auri @MelancholyRaven @Callousgirl and @Walker :D
It's true, we cant leave them behind @LostGirl22 . Your guy sounds sweet

Good morning all and what a wonderful theme for the cafe on a Friday...I have to give it some more thought as though there haven't been any singular moments of compassion that spring to mind I feel so fortunate to have experienced so much continual support and compassion here on SF over the last three years for which I am forever grateful.

Thought we could use some fancy coffees for a Friday.....

Thank you for inviting me! @LostGirl22:)

My dog came to my house just about 3 months ago and he looked so sad and depressed the first days, I liked to look into his eyes and thought about what he was thinking, maybe he was so lonely. Well, staying with him is such a comfort and it's more like I'm comforting him but in fact I just love to stay with him, and he is silent, quiet those times. No one even noticed that he is not only helping me, but also my whole family - but that's the truth. (I'd never tell you he destroyed everything on the floor when he was alone in the room one time!)
Ah yes can relate to items left on the floor as my dog once ate half of a hard cover book...no traces of destroyed parts....I think she may be part goat...lol...

I had a older dog for a service dog. he always knew when I wasn't doing good and after being picked up and put on the bed he would lay next to me til I got up. for one reason or another which I don't know how he knew if I was wanting/trying to SH he would come and sit in my lap preventing me from harm. no matter how many times I moved him he came right back
Dogs and cats often possess amazing situational awareness and understanding of their humans. For example Mike understands the word 'goodbye'. He knows that when I'm talking on the phone and say goodbye, that I'll be going to sleep soon. So he makes sure I'm looking at him, walks over to his dry food dish, and meows, to remind me to top it up before I go to sleep.
