Welcome to another cafe

Today's question is: What is your favorite place to visit?
It could be a country, a city, bookstore, coffee shop, garden, etc. Also, bonus question, if you've never travelled anywhere, which country/city/place in the world would you want to visit?

My answer: My favorite place to visit is Edinburgh, Scotland. I've only been there once but I was so amazed with everything about it. It was pretty magical and everyone there was so nice to me. I would love to visit again one day. I also would like to go to New Zealand one day.

Thanks for tagging me in @puffymilk. I wouldn't say I have a favourite place to visit at the moment but I would really like to visit Japan. I would love to fly into Tokyo and then get the bullet train into old Japan. I think it would be really interesting to see their culture and way of life. I like Japanese tattoo's, so I would have to get one while I was there.

I haven’t been many places, but have been to a total of 3 diff countries (aside from my own of course lol) and of those 3 places I think my fave would be California. I just love the energy there a lot and think it seems like a cool place. Would love to go back someday and see more places that I didn’t see the first time I went there. Was only a teen when I was last there.

There’s many other places I’d love to see someday as well, too many to list here but a few of them are NYC, Florida, Alaska, Grand Canyon, Puerto Rico, Cuba, UK, France, Japan, Australia and NZ.

Just a heads up on the tattoo aspect - the Japanese today don’t look kindly on tattoos. I once wanted to get one of those full back pieces that was all color and contained ancient symbology, all tied together in a single huge image.

Turns out that those tattoos are associated with the Yakuza, who are Very Bad People. They are professionals compared to Western gangs, but they still engage in organized crime stuff like drug dealing and human trafficking. That’s last one is a major point of disagreement with me. I hope that doesn’t rain on your parade, and if you really want to get inked in Japan I don’t want to discourage you. I just want to suggest looking into it and possibly time it for the end of the trip.

I think I have mentioned this before, but the happiest place I have ever been is the fern grotto in Kauai.

Like others, I would like to visit Japan if I get the travel bug back. I would go to the ultra urban places and check out the sushi, yakisoba, and weird snacks. Then I would like to visit the very rural places. I used to watch a lot of Japanese films, and my favorites took place out in the sticks, which seemed like the bucolic paradise I have always dreamed of.

Thanks for that, I really appreciate the heads up. I had a Japanese style tattoo done a few weeks ago and I love it, going to get a few more tattoo's done. I've only just started to get into tattoo's and didn't know that about the link to the Yakuza, though I have seen the body suits. I didn't know that the reputation of tattoos in Japan is very poor, even if it's not in the style of the Yakuza tattoos. Thanks again, I'll have to wear a long sleeve top. But I'm going to do some reading on the history of tattoo's in Japan as it sounds really interesting.

@Inastorm - I decided to double check because I wanted to be wrong about that. I found out that it’s more of an old fashioned view and that the younger generation is more relaxed. However old fashioned attitudes are still common in rural areas and at temples. I was going off of info from a friend who visited Japan for a month, and he found his tattoos were a cause of social friction. He did have full sleeves, which I guess is more stigmatized than single, smaller tattoos

Probably my local mall these days. It is close, it has air conditioning, nobody bothers you and you can buy lunch. It also has one of the three real book shops in my town.

I used to go to the City Park close to where I live, it has a lot of shops and things to do, but I don't go there for a long time.

I liked São Paulo city when I was a teenager and probably I would go there if I had the money and friends to go.

I'm not exactly a travel guy. I'm not the type of person who would like to have the "tourist" experience. I think going to a place to have **fun** is not something I'm very used to.

The thing is that I don't even know my country. I only crossed state once when I was a kid.

So I would probably travel more through São Paulo interior, the Amazon, Northern Minas, the South, the Northeast...

There are places in other countries that I have a curiosity to know.

In the US, probably California or Northern California. I think they got this highway that goes through the Pacific Ocean? The Grand Canyon seems cool too.

New England seems like a cool place too, mostly because of the history and because it seems like a mysterious place in my mind.

Sometimes I feel like Mexico must be a cool place, mostly because of the food. I wouldn't stay in a resort though because it isn't my vibes.

Once I read that Wales has the most number of castles in Europe, so it is probably a cool place to visit. A trip to northern Italy through Veneto would be cool (part of my family came from there a long time ago).

Sometimes I feel like going to Angola or Mozambique just to know what Africa is like, but probably there is other cool places in Africa to go.

Thanks for the link, this is all very interesting. It's funny as I would have thought it would be just tattoos associated with yakuza/gangsters that would be frowned upon, rather than any tattoo. Mine is very large, so no chance of a cover up sticker, I'll just wear long sleeve tops.

None as much as I get older. I do fit the old fart of not wanting to get out. Bookstores were always favorites and I still make some of the star party get togethers for the local amateur astronomy group here I am a member of.

Also, bonus question, if you've never travelled anywhere, which country/city/place in the world would you want to visit?

I always thought that Australia would be interesting to visit especially somewhat speaking the language. The travels thread. The Sydney Sojourns thread by @Pebble mouse shows plenty of fine spots to visit with enough city and urban to be and feel modern with all the conveniences and then to think of the more rural and wilder spots to explore. I would probably find the nature and wildlife there to be quite fascinating to view.

i am most fond of anywhere there's a large body of water... like the ocean or great lakes. i am not well traveled. probably about 40ish states and South Western Canada along 1 from Vancouver to Calgary. However... my most favorite place i have ever been to is The Canadian side of Glacier National Park.

Hello café, I hope everyone is doing pretty well. 🫶🏻 Thank you @puffymilk for coming up with a really nice topic and for tagging me. I couldn't find words this morning when I stopped by, but am a bit better now.

What is my favorite place to visit? I will separate this into local and not so local. I have a coffee shop I like, but only go once in a great while. Otherwise, it'll of course be Sydney, Australia. But I want to explore Melbourne, and Adelaide, and take the train through the vast middle parts of the continent.

as for the bonus question: if you've never travelled anywhere, which country/city/place in the world would you want to visit? Why this doesn't apply for me: I have been back and forthe to and from Australia and Montana and the PNW quite a bit over the last few years. And, A long time ago when I was just a kid I went with the parents to many countries, on a trip that lasted about 7 months. It was amazing but also sobering for me, because I realised that the world is actually very small, and very crowded with humans. But there are still lots of countries I'd like to see, and some to explore in more depth. As above, I would like to visit Japan's smaller cities and remaining forests. Also: Italy, Greece and New Zealand especially. If I could afford it, I might just wander forever, painting and trying various foods, learning stories and histories, etc.

My favourite place to visit is near nature , greenish landscapes with little to no people around
I would love to visit a lot of places around the world so there isn't any specific one place.
I would love to visit japan 's country side , Korea , usa , Prague , Italy , Germany , Netherlands
All over the world actually and I really want to visit Iran one day if I can and if it would be safe , there's this tomb of shams of Tabriz and I just admire him so much

I have never been to California but I want to go there. The energy that it gives off is so pretty and summery and just positive. So many of your wishlist places are what I would like to visit too 😆

Thanks for opening the Cafe and the tag @puffymilk. My favorite place I have visited is Alaska. Four trips from the port of Seatlle and 3 land plants. Kodiak Island, Dutch Harbor and Bristol Bay. The mountains ranges ocean aurora's and wilderness is awe-inspiring, it's god's coloring book. I have only visited a few other places California, Montana and Oregon. I Lived a summer in New Jersey went to New York, Philadelphia and stayed at ranch in Pennsylvania for a week and got to ride horses. If I could travel anywhere it would be the seven wonders of the world.

Great topic -- where I live in the Canadian northwest would be great to visit, if only I could get out of the house, as in the past.

Since Japan was mentioned here, I've traveled there for work reasons long ago and it's what you'd expect. I even tried to learn the language, but I have failed -- and miserably at that! 😂 日本語が下手です、でも頑張っています！しょうがないだろう。
