How are you all doing today? Please let us know how your weekend is going for you and your plans for the week ahead!!! 🎅💓😂
My weekend passed by all too quickly, and I plan to just keep my head down and make it through the coming week, that way I can make it to the holiday faster. (My work shuts down for Christmas for a week or two, benefit of working for a company that deals exclusively with schools.
1. What historical moment stands out most in your memory?
"One small step for man" Face it, those guys must have been bloody crazy to go all the way to the moon in a can like that.
2. What did you find most difficult about growing up?
People, they were shit, but now that I have grown up, I have learned the truth about people. I was right, they really are shit. The only ones who arent shit are the ones who realised they are shit and tried to be better, but oh how rare they are. I like SF especially because of the alarmingly high amount of people here who aren't shit. I kinda wish I could arrange a meetup with several of you rather than try to make friends with the dregs I find around me.
3. Were your parents strict or lenient?
Both. My dad was strict about property and money and lenient about behaviour, my mum was the opposite.
4. Do you remember your grandparents or great-grandparents? What were they like?
Dad's Mum: I barely remember her, she died first, she was just the stereotype of the "kind old grandmother" to me, she always made sure we had plastecine to play with when we were visiting, she made jam sandwiches with Mr Kipling French Fancies, and occasionally she would make the PERFECT apple pies. I have never had one as good since she died.
Dad's Dad: He was a jammy git, liked to tease and be fun, but was a real working man, up until the week he died he was still working out in the garden growing vegetables. He was also tough as all hell. He once broke his hip falling down the stairs, then dragged himself through his house, up into a chair by the phone and called for help, he was about mid 80s at the time.
Mum's Mum: A truly amazing person, she could stare down the sun, stubborn beyond reason, she got arthritis at 30 and kept playing piano into her 60s, she also had not time for modern nonsense, anything she didn't like or agree with you would hear "don't be
stupid" and she would always say stupid as if trying to fit it into 1 syllable, and I have never met a more religious person in my life (wholesome religious, not in-your-face religious).
As an example of her stubbornness, she had maybe 5 deathbeds, she just refused to die, she KEPT bouncing back, and on one of them she said afterwards that Jesus came to her and said "Come with me to my father's kingdom", now if you believe in God or not, she did, and she saw him, she believed she was being ushered to heaven personally by Jesus, and she said "Sorry, I cant, I still have people to pray for". A lot of people are all talk, but not her. She is probably the best person I have ever met.
Mum's Dad Last man standing, another of the working men, a dying breed, he is softer and friendlier than his wife was, but also didn't care for nonsense, and loved football, but his wife would never let him watch. He is generous and kind, but his heart isn't in this world anymore, ever since his wife died he has just been waiting to be with her again, he isn't miserable or anything, this life just doesn't hold any interest for him without her in it.
Really all of my grandparents, they just don't make people like that anymore.
5. If you could change one thing in your life right now what would it be?
I have 2 ideas:
1) MASSIVELY inflated income. This is by no means my goal, but it would allow me to have a decent home, to afford to go out dating, to meet someone, to stop worrying about finances and my future etc, to start
LIVING LIFE rather than just waiting, money is the lubricant that makes life go I'm afraid, and I don't have enough right now.
2) To meet "the one". I already know what she is like, I just need to meet her.
Number 2 is my ultimate goal, but number 1 will help get me to that goal and also to several others.
