1. What weird food combinations do you really enjoy?
No combination of mine is weird, ever! I don't do things like put jelly on peanut butter, that's just insane.

2. What social stigma does society need to get over?
In Europe going to see a psychiatrist apparently means you're "crazy" (like if you put jelly on peanut butter kind of crazy). Also, seeing a therapist means you're too dumb to do life.
That stigma around mental health, please.

3. What food have you never eaten but would really like to try?
Everything I haven't tried yet (and that I accept to ingest).

4. What’s something you really resent paying for?
Healthcare, education, knowledge. Survival. I don't literally resent it, but you get my point. I would resent paying for the military if I had to though.

5. Are some unusual places you’ve been?
If I think of one, I'll come back.

6. Where do you get your news?
I do not anymore. If it's important enough, people tell me about it.

1. What weird food combinations do you really enjoy?
When I was a kid I used to eat salt & vinegar crisps with Jaffa cakes in a pita bread. Now I stick to generally more normal combinations but I am partial to thinly sliced cheddar cheese on top of ginger cake. And I do put potato gnocchi in my Thai green curry and bake it in the oven. It sounds weird but it works sooo well.

2. What social stigma does society need to get over?
Pretty much all of them apart from racism. A few years ago it was seen as a real social stigma but it's becoming more acceptable to be openly racist and that really needs to be put back in the social stigma box.

3. What food have you never eaten but would really like to try?
I'd like to try squirrel.
And many of the foods @Baywasp talks about in the "What's for dinner" thread. His food always sounds so good

4. What’s something you really resent paying for
Vets bills. Man, they're so expensive.

5 are some unusual places you’ve been?
Svalbard was pretty unusual - pitch dark 24hrs a day, colder than I thought I could ever be and not a single tree on the whole island.

6. Where do you get your news?
If I watch the news on TV I tend to watch ITV. Online it's the BBC or The Guardian.

Thx 4 inv.

2. What social stigma does society need to get over?
Replace stigma with HELP (or at least free and painless death).
3. What food have you never eaten but would really like to try?
Liver, don't think I've had it. Nutrients.
4. What’s something you really resent paying for?
Everything.
6. Where do you get your news?
Half from Alex Jones, half from my dreams.
to me stigma itself is a “bad” word so if anything has that word applied to it, society does need to get over it with positive constructive work. stigma just isolates and puts off making things better.
Big agree. If we didn't have the social stigma against: mental illness/ unemployment/ disability/ laziness/ lack of motivation/ drug addiction/ virginity/ loneliness/ suicidal ideation/ political opinions/ religious affiliation or lack of/ etc, then all of those things would be easier to handle in society. Having people tell you that they literally want to kill you for not having a job reduces your ability or wish to get one, for example.

Isn't racism and such things dealt with in a better way by dialogue/debate and getting to know ppl of different backgrounds, rather than stigma? Imo, as someone that became pulled into the whole racism/sexism mistake a while back, I know for a fact that stigma just makes you double down on an incorrect and harmful belief. Stigma will only increase the suffering on both ends, and turn up the heat with horrific consequences. But idk.
2. What social stigma does society need to get over?
Adults living at home with their parents. That doesn't make them a loser.

I mean I'm almost 36 so people are telling me I need to live on my own. But I'm still single, no family, and my mom likes the company, so I don't see what the issue is.
People are designed to harm others until they get thrashed by life enough times. Most people get by relatively unharmed and therefore are able to be like this. Yes, I'm generalizing here, don't need the exceptions and debate this time around, thx.

I see such as a positive. You can look after and help take of each other and have that sense of family closeness that many lack and wish that they did have.

A stigma is a mark of disgrace associated with a particular circumstance, quality or person. It's something that is seen as unacceptable within society. Racism should always be unacceptable in any form. Of course racism should be tackled through dialogue and debate but it should always be seen as unacceptable, unlike other stigmas surrounding mental health, clothing.

Yeah, ok. Feels like we might have the definition of stigma from different books. I mean, if it's bad to have a stigma against alcoholism (harms yourself and others), then it should be bad to have it for racism (harms yourself and others). I'm probably wrong, you seem to know what you're talking about tho. Sry if it sounds like I'm advocating for racism, I am not.

I disagree, I find you quite a delight here but like all things online I just view everything as relax and not take things too seriously. All issues disappear when you turn the computer off and face what happens in person in real life.
That's harder for me because I don't have any friends offline, haha. I care what they think about me, and hope they know that if they are a part of my life, I think the best of them.

You can join my club. The last person I saw in person or rather a couple I knew that I considered a friend was a quarter of a century ago. LOL And before that it was a family I last saw in 1985. All others in my life beyond family are associates, acquaintances, not close at all.

I just feel like I make mistakes and come across the wrong way, but I really do like the people I call friends.
