Thank you for opening the cafe today Angie, and for the tag @MisterBGone I appreciate it very much! :)

My proudest achievement? Hmm, that’s quite a hard one for me to answer because I’ve never been much of an “achievement oriented” kind of person. But I guess somehow managing to work full time for over 7 years when I kinda hated and resented doing that most of the time could be considered one of my “prouder” achievements. I was suicidal at some point for pretty much every year I worked there, so I think that gives some idea of just how much I hated and resented it.

Also, considering I very easily coulda become a “high school dropout”, the fact that I graduated high school is something I feel proud of as well. I never really cared much about school (kinda hated it tbh) and was a terrible student. There was various kinds of stress at home with not much “structure” so I think that had a lot to do with why it was such a struggle for me. Pretty much no true “support” or caring was really shown to me about school either.

Anyway, it did not “improve” once I got to high school, quite the opposite. By grade 11 I definitely felt quite “done” with all of it, but somehow managed to get through that year, and then finish grade 12. Still don’t really know “how” I did that tbh, and I sometimes still have nightmares that I’m still in grade 12 and feeling stressed about “whether I’ll graduate or not” so ya, to say school was a huge challenge for me would be a huge understatement. I had no motivation then, and I still don’t today.

Anyway whatever, glad I at least did those things, there’s many who don’t graduate high school and who never work at all for their whole lives. I did not become someone who didn’t do those things.
Well, I think you've done quite (extra-ordinarily) well! @JMG ~& I agree. That those are not small feats, at all! . . . I might also add, that you've become (or perhaps have always been), a really decent, fine and exceptional person - as well~ / so, while that may be viewed as kind of, blah--or plain (maybe even boring, or like being called "Nice?"). That is not what I mean, especially in comparison to all of the others you meet on your day-to-day, who are NOT that Way! ;) So, it is w/that comparison, then. That it can become more clear, and viewed or seen, with such stark contrast. And this is where, in my opinion, you (do) stand-out. And in a (very) postitive, sense or way* ~mrb!

I love to boast and brag, the more inane and silly the more I will brag about it. Likewise, the more serious and worthwhile it is, the less inclined I am to turn it into an ego trip. :P
No mate, this is no ego trip. I already know how magnificent I am so reconfirmation is not required :D

On a serious note, no harm in stating one's achievements if done with taste. After all why not give a nod to those victories against the everlasting battle that is life or those demons within ourselves?

Still.. it feels tacky? And this from the guy who will tell anyone who will listen about the time he won an argument with a sheep (Which I did)

Hi @Angie

I suppose you're the official proprietor of the Cafe now huh?

*hiding Dante Hope I didn't come across as boadting. I don't think I was bragging, but responding to the cafe questoon with an honest reveal of having 3 proudest things (2 of which are offspring-people & an achievement).

Hey MrB, wow! This is all just so kind of you to say, I barely know what to say in response, but thank you SO much for taking the time to both read what I wrote there, and also reply about it, it means far more than I could ever say in words :)

I really appreciate the acknowledgment about those things I said not being “small feats”, I realize the majority seem to mostly take those kinds of things for granted, but considering how much I have always struggled with motivation, along with often being misunderstood, unsupported, underestimated and dismissed (especially by most of my family) I do think it’s a bit of a miracle that I somehow summoned up any amount of strength to do those things. I didn’t personally “care” that much about them overall, I felt slightly more motivated with the working thing at least cos of it allowing me to have “more” money than I would have without having the full time job like that, but I still don’t know to this day if the stress was truly “worth” that $ or not.

Thank you for those kind compliments to me too though, that means the world to me for sure :) I think the same about you, absolutely, you are exceptional to care so much and be so nice like you are, that is quite rare, especially these days in my experience. You stand out to me in a very positive way too, and the world is a far better place with such a great person as you in it :)

No, its because I like to boast, a lot, so when I say something good I did, it just feels like more of the same.

You certainly didn't! I'm sure my husband didn't mean you were boasting, he always encourages people to talk about their achievements and qualities because it's a good thing to do for most people. The topic of this café allows that, which is great! *hug
