First single, not really sure. But I know the first album I bought was Alanis Morissette - Jagged Little Pill. It was fun asking my mom all the dirty things I didn't know about, and she said she would tell me about them when I got older, lol.
Definitely one of the best CDs of all time - Jagged Little Pill.
Then what happened to Alanis?
Her next few CDs were disappointing.

My other favorite album is Goodbye Yellow Brick Road by Elton John.

Ah, Woowoo, I'm gunna tell you even more bc music is my favorite subject, interest and emotion facilitator. First my first favorite song (single). And I'll guess you are too young to know bc I already know I'm too young to know. That song is Tan Shoes and Pink Shoelaces by Dodie Stevens. First single I bought? I have a feeling I always believed buying singles was wrong so I believe I bought an album first but I broke down and if I remember right and not another song altogether the first single was cherish bc it made me think thoughts of Paulette. *realizes this is a bit corny*. Not my first crush, but first somewhat adult (junior high school) crush. First down load, maybe poker face ? or something else just as obscure at the time - but just to see if I could do it. Well, now I'll be thinking all day! will be a nice day. Thanks ww

I'm going to find Tan Shoes and Pink Shoelaces and have a listen as I'm not familiar with it.

My dad always thought singles were a waste of money so I was never allowed them until I was earning. I therefore didn't buy my first single until I was 15. The first song I remember really liking was Karma Chameleon by Culture Club. I found the lyrics in a magazine and would sing it all the time.

My first album was a present when I was about 9 years old. It was Make it Big by Wham. It came with a free poster which took pride of place on my bedroom wall!

Thanks for opening up @Woowoo the breakfasts looks amazing. Maybe some coffee to go with it as well?
Been trying to think what was the first single I bought. @Woowoo , for the life of me I honestly can't remember at the moment  all I know, it must have been something from the early 80's.

Sick coffee photos! That first one is pretty genius!
Can I show you guys my coffee cups?? One is a Stanley french press + cup, the other is a Stanley travel cup that opens the mouth bit with a little push button so it can't spill and keeps my coffee hot all day!
View attachment 10122 I love them so much! Also... Can I tell a synchronicity story that made my week?
Oh and Something Def Leppard. Lol. The tape with the song about Ricky going to prison.

I have no idea what "single" I bought first. I don't think I bought any singles when I was a kid. Hell, I didn't really buy any when I was older. The first tape I bought when I was a kid was Whitesnake though. I feel really old now.
Great choice .. evolved from Deep Purple. Both great bands

I am among those who don't remember the first song they bought. I tended to buy CDs as a kid instead of downloading single songs. The first CD I ever bought myself was Dookie by Green Day, about a decade after its release. I wanted to get American Idiot but my mom took a while to let me get that because it had a parental advisory sticker on it.

First single? I have no idea that was so long ago. I remember making mixed tapes by recording songs off the radio. I didn't even own a CD player until long after they were the "thing". I had portable CD player that I put in my car. I suspended it in the center console with rubber bands so it wouldn't skip while driving.

This is a great topic. Fair play to you @Woowoo. I didn't buy singles, mainly because we didn't have a stereo. I did have a tape recorder however, and the first cassette that Mom and Dad bought for me was ABBA's "Arrival!" Played it non-stop, everywhere we went. Good job both of them liked them!!!

The first album/cassette I bought for myself, well, it was my birthday, and I'd gotten money, so, off I toddled to the record store and I bought two!! ABBA's "Greatest Hits, Volume 2," and, wait for it....Adam and The Ants, "Kings of the Wild Frontier!!" I was completely in love with Adam Ant!!!

P.S. You haven't heard ABBA's "Money, Money, Money," until you've heard it when the batteries are running out!!!

I only slept two hours last night because I am having an allergic reaction or something
Sorry to hear that. Whenever I have a respiratory-type allergy, a claritin (or better yet, the cheaper, generic "loratidine") OTC pill clears it up quickly.

Maybe spring pollen allergies?

That's awful. If it's really poison ivy there's not much to be done once it's been washed.

One time I cut a furry vine, because I was trying to save the tree it was climbing. I guess it's called "climbing poison ivy" though. I ended up getting it all over my face and body. My face swelled up, I could hardly see out of one eye.

Had to go to the hospital

Haha you've brought back memories @Kalicka I'd forgotten all about the hours I used to spend as a teenager sat by the radio on a Sunday afternoon recording the UK top 40 on a tape player. I used to try to cut out all the talking without missing the end of the songs. I never got it right!!
