What are you watching on television lately? What movies or shows? What genres are they and what about (without fully giving it away if some of us decide to give it it a try also ;)).

Do you have any type of cable service, Roku, or just watch apps like Netflix, Hulu, etc. on your phone or tablet?

I know not everyone does watch TV, so if you don't watch TV, what music are you listening to as of late?

Why do you like to watch television or listen to music? Does it ever help you feel as though you're escaping reality? How does that feel for you? Why do you have the specific interests that you do?

I don't even know who to tag anymore; it's been so long since I've started one of these, so I won't, but you may.

It's a brand new day and we are all still here.

- Lamentations 3:23
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases. His blessings are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

Ey ey, thanks for opening the cafe! Watching lots of anime lately! Jujutsu Kaisen new episode in a bit on Crunchyroll! *popcorn Unless you meant specifically cable television or something *dunno -

Not easy to summarize what it's about though :D - I mostly use apps on Smart TV for streaming services.
Anime I find to be super chill and exciting - It's indeed the words you're using @Aurelia : Escaping Reality ~ Escapism. How it feels depends on mood and other input of information I've experienced that day, I can't always enjoy things the same way.

Not sure why I have the specific interests in like the shows/movies/books I enjoy, besides for the sci-fi genre - mostly escapism and playing with things beyond the laws of physics. As for the why, I can't really say - still don't know how my mind/brain is wired internally. ^__^ I do know that after developing a mental health disorder my interests in like specific music genres started to shift dramatically over time. I rarely use music as escapism, but when I listen it's often just that - a (dark) room with music and no other distractions.

Thanks for the tag @Citizen Insane

I am currently watching The Rookie on sky witness, I tend to like police, firefighter, or hospital dramas. Things like Chicago fire /med / PD, Greys Anatomy, New Amsterdam etc
When I was in Chicago my bff took me to the fire house where Chicago fire is filmed. It was really cool, and I got to sit in the fire truck!!
Anyway, other programs I am watching, Modern Family on Disney+, Young Sheldon, Grace and Frankie on Netflix.

I find I can’t just watch tv though. I have it on while I’m doing something else, I like to do some cross stitch, or go on my phone, while the tv is on. Escapism can be listening to a book though. I find having my earbuds in, listening to something helps me to not think, which works quite well. My favourite author is Lucinda Riley.

Anyway, there’s my offering to the cafe. Make mine an Amaretto Hot Chocolate please! *grouphug2

Make mine an Amaretto Hot Chocolate please!
Oooooh... Now I want one of those too!

Thanks for opening the cafe @Aurelia and for the tag @Citizen Insane :)

I have Netflix, Amazon Prime and NowTV as apps on my TV but I must admit I normally forget I've got them and just watch terrestrial TV. Maybe I should save some money and stop my subscriptions..

I'm feeling a bit bereft since Succession ended. I've just started watching Shooter, so far so good.
I find binge watching something keeps my mind off of other things which is needed at the moment.

Currently watching cheesy old 1950s sci fi and horror movies, and although those are always favorites I do love just about any good comedies whether TV or movies. I admit to watching more older shows but I am old minded and do prefer so many of the shows I saw younger and growing up but I do enjoy a mix of just whatever grabs my attention at the time.

I stopped watching TV years ago because of politically biased negative news, media, and programs. I watch YouTube, and Netflix, movies, sports, subscription series, and more I also have a membership to Audible.
Yeah I don't actually watch TV. Just stream selected things. My sister on the other hand has 3 Tvs and they all have to be on all the time - one in the living room which is on (but you can turn it down if visitors are there), one in the kitchen and one in the bedroom, playing to themselves all day with the sound turned down. One of the tvs broke so she put a spare phone there with something playing on it. I don't get it 🤔 At Christmas it is horrible as the TV is on and the news comes on and it's audible, I normally try to keep the news as far from my thoughts as possible, at least the sensationalised TV news which is all bad news all the time...

If you fast-forward, or "rewind," rather~ (say about 6 months or so...) -& then, b/c this is all so very important ^to the time_line & all: now that I come to think of hit, I don't kow when it was?.? ;) BUT! I'd watch Tubi for about a year, almost continously, or whenever I was up & awake, which was far or all-too 'often.' I have absolutely no idea/or "clue" what was watched, but mostly it was movies, of any variety & kind. When one would end--another would begin--and so on, and so on. . . It was most defintiely a means of 'Escape-ism,' ~(cp?) &... maybe some of them were all right. I dunno? Now I think it's been reformatted a bit, or perhaps I'd need to get the app (whatever that means?). Techical wizard that I am, and have always been! mHHMmm..;) Remember that "Sling Blade," movie? Well, that wasn't one of them. :D There were a number of foreign films, and I particularly, or in particular, like to (or enjoy) watching them w/o the subtitles on for some reason. Even if you don't know what the heck is going on, I still think you can get some of the emotion penetrating into you & your conscience, or your psyche, somehow. . . Magic? What was the Question, again! I may have to look into a Netflix subscribption again. As I used to love getting, LOST - in those series & such. But it's been a bit, of a bit--(of a bit of a bit of a bit!)... :) Though I'm planning on having a fine time. And it's going to be a good time. In the middle of a great time. Or something like that? Tell me, baby? Do you recognize me! Wlel- 'its been a yr. & it DoEsN't Surprize me... ( ; o` Where oh - Where, can my~ Ba by BEE... @majeix @Survivorist @LumberJack @IRE1992 @-L- @Lekatt @Ju @alice202

There was a note. It basically said she wasn't coming....
// So, it was a b-aaAaa-d note?

Thank you for opening @Aurelia and tagging me @Astrid78 and @Citizen Insane. I got rid of cable a few years ago because of the high price so now I have MAX, Netflix, Hulu.

Lately I've been watching Young Sheldon which I luv. Also, Doom Patrol, about 4 misfits/superheroes.

Anyone watch American Horror Story? I wanted to give that a try.

I almost forgot about Virgin River which is weird bcz I usually don't like love stories but this is about a group of people that live in a small town.
I don't like to watch TV during the day, but at night I'll binge watch.

Thanks for tagging me! And so beautiful! *hug
@Aurelia thanks for opening the cafe! *hug

Lets see… I’m watching plenty of different series because my boyfriend can’t seem to stay on one *rofl
Amongst them; modern family, Luki, mom, bones, what we do in the shadows.
Plus we are watching comedy movies but lately seems to run out of new ideas , so if anyone has suggestions it’s definitely more than welcome *stars

as for streaming services, in my country we don’t have many available unfortunately, so mainly netflix; disney and amazon prime.

as for the question wether or not it’s an escape? Definitely!! So much better to have a laugh instead of watching the news and fry all day.

I don't watch TV or listen to music I prefer sitting in silence. As I have gotten older I find noise to be intolerable. I can't understand the words being said on TV or in music anyway because I'm partially deaf. Every now and then I will watch something on Amazon prime with the subtitles on so I can understand it but not very often. At the moment I'm trying to watch 15 seasons of Supernatural but I have only gotten to season 3 and my head has had enough.
I much prefer to read books and have always been a bit of a bookworm. I will read pretty much anything from kids books, true crime, history etc depending on where my head is at the time.
