How are you expecting Christmas to be this year?

Simple and relaxing. I won’t have to work, but will enjoy cuddling up my pets and girlfriend, and can spend time talking to friends and family.

As an adult do you still get excited about Christmas, if so, why?

Because it get to buy gifts for my loved ones. I don’t care about gifts for me. I like to decorate cakes for my loved ones and surprise them with a personable gifts.

Are you annoyed that there won't likely be any Christmas parties for work etc this year?

Not at all. As much as I don’t like social distancing, we need it

What would be a perfect Christmas day for you?

Waking up early after a good night’s rest. Making breakfast for my girlfriend, then spending the day together watching our favorite shows.

What have you bought so far for Christmas or how many cards have you posted/received?

I bought some AirPods for my girlfriend, but that’s all for now. But that’s still good for me considering I’m a very last minute shopper lol

What is your favourite Christmas movie or song?

Silver Bells. As for my favorite movie, it’s definitely be “Home Alone”

The FOOD!!! What will Christmas dinner be?

Green bean casserole. Mashed potatoes. Turkey. Dressing. Gravy. Corn. Biscuits. Maybe more 😏

I've not been on for a while, I hope everyone is taking care of themselves. I've made a step towards trying to get back on track but I've been slipping for a little while now. Have a doctors appointment tomorrow and a therapy assessment call as well.

How are you expecting Christmas to be this year?
It won't be much different for me, other than my daughter not being with me. My anxiety is up a bit so I expect that'll wreak havoc for me.
As an adult do you still get excited about Christmas, if so, why?
I get excited for my daughter. But for me, I hate it. It makes me feel so uncomfortable receiving anything.
Are you annoyed that there won't likely be any Christmas parties for work etc this year?
I have never attended a work christmas party
What would be a perfect Christmas day for you?

What have you bought so far for Christmas or how many cards have you posted/received?
I've not sent any cards yet, but I have received one. I am not usually a sender of cards, but a colleague hand made me a card, and that meant a lot for me, so I want to do the same for her.

How are you expecting Christmas to be this year?
Quiet, which usually means hassle free.

As an adult do you still get excited about Christmas, if so, why?
Must be joking mate, to me I see it as nothing but an over commercialised junket.

Are you annoyed that there won't likely be any Christmas parties for work etc this year?
Going from the hit and miss affairs of previous years, it's not something I'll be heartbroken over were it not to happen.

What would be a perfect Christmas day for you?
Food, drink and cigars.

What have you bought so far for Christmas or how many cards have you posted/received?
Nothing yet, and not really intending to get anything specific for Xmas. As you can guess, I just don't really do Christmas.
Xmas cards recieved - 1
Xmas cards posted - 0 . Although I might just send out a few xmas greetings via mobile phone txts just to keep the natives (relatives) at bay.

What is your favourite Christmas movie or song?
Does such a thing exist?:D

The FOOD!!! What will Christmas dinner be?
Decadent;)

Hi Champagne, and everyone. Hope your days are going well.

Lots of Christmas decorations and lights starting to be put up around. We haven't started our yet but once the whole family are back home I will get the tree up. That's pretty much all we do but it still looks nice.

How are you expecting Christmas to be this year? They have just announced that 3 households can get together. We now need to have a conversation and decide what we feel is safe for my parents. Both are vulnerable and I wouldn't want to take a risk, so we need to work out the best thing to do.

As an adult do you still get excited about Christmas, if so, why? I used to when the children were little. I guess their excitement rubbed off on me and I loved making Christmas special for them. Not so much now, it can be a lot of hard work. I also find that I usually do the cooking so its a busy day for me.

Are you annoyed that there won't likely be any Christmas parties for work etc this year? No, I never went to the Christmas parties anyway.

What would be a perfect Christmas day for you? Something calm and quiet, family together, not to mad, just everyone comfortable in everyone elses company.

What have you bought so far for Christmas or how many cards have you posted/received? I have bought a few bits for the girls and my mum but nothing major. Candles and books etc, some clothes. I tend to ask them what they want and then get that. No point in getting something they won't like or use. My husband and I don't get anything for each other. Bah Humbug!

What is your favourite Christmas movie or song? Either the Muppets Christmas Carol or Polar Express

The FOOD!!! What will Christmas dinner be? We are very traditional and have turkey but it has to have bacon and cheese bites and bread sauce! The trimmings make all the difference, loads of veg and sausages and pigs in blankets.

Hope you all have a great evening. *grouphug2

thanks for the tag @Champagne :)

I loved Christmas as a kid, lots of good memories

How are you expecting Christmas to be this year? boring, empty, sad.

As an adult do you still get excited about Christmas, if so, why? no :( it's just not the same, it's boring, lonely, not magical.

Are you annoyed that there won't likely be any Christmas parties for work etc this year? I have social anxiety so no *rofl

What would be a perfect Christmas day for you? snow, good company, games, big dinner, lots of presents under the tree, a cosy heavily decorated house, it'd be more fun with kids, movies, laughs, smiles, love.

What have you bought so far for Christmas or how many cards have you posted/received? I haven't bought anything for christmas yet and haven't got any cards. I don't get cards in the mail, i don't really know anyone :/

What is your favourite Christmas movie or song? I love Elf, can't think of any other movies off the top of my head. I don't remember the people who sing them but I like I wish it could be christmas everyday, merry christmas everyone, driving home for christmas and wonderful christmas time.

The FOOD!!! What will Christmas dinner be? roast chicken, roast potatoes, mini sausages, yorkshire puddings, veg, stuffing.

How are you expecting Christmas to be this year?
Pretty much the same as every year. My only hope was that households still won't be able to mix ;)

As an adult do you still get excited about Christmas, if so, why?
No. I dread it. Too much stress trying to make it perfect.

Are you annoyed that there won't likely be any Christmas parties for work etc this year?
I haven't worked for a couple of years so I don't have work parties anyway. But I normally go out for dinner with a crowd of friends (normally about 20 of us) and I'll miss that terribly. It's the highlight of Christmas for me.

What would be a perfect Christmas day for you?
A log cabin in the snow with a huge fireplace. Just Nick and I (and maybe the kids too), staying in pyjamas all day and having a cooked Christmas dinner delivered.

What have you bought so far for Christmas or how many cards have you posted/received?
I have done absolutely no Christmas shopping so far although I'm going to make many of the gifts this year anyway. I've made all my Christmas cards and posted all the non UK ones (about 15). I've received one card so far which is in pride of place as it's extra special.

What is your favourite Christmas movie or song?
Ashamed to admit it but I'm a sucker for Love Actually.

The FOOD!!! What will Christmas dinner be?
Not really a fan of turkey so normally cook beef or venison. But of course it comes with all the usual Christmas trimmings like pigs in blankets, roast potatoes and parsnips, Yorkshire puddings, carrots, braised red cabbage and SPROUTS (much to the kids disgust). Christmas pudding for the weirdos and something chocolatey for the rest of us.

Good evening! I finished my work week today as I took tomorrow off and I have the rest of the weekend.

How are you expecting Christmas to be this year? I am dreading Christmas this year because of Covid. Travel restrictions will be in place so I won't see my family and my daughter will be delivering my grandson so she will be in quarantine and my friends will invite me to their house but I will be ignored so why go? I dunno what will happen but there is trepidation.

As an adult do you still get excited about Christmas, if so, why? I like the lights and decorations and music so yeah I get excited. I also get excited seeing people get excited about the presents i get them.

Are you annoyed that there won't likely be any Christmas parties for work etc this year?
I never felt comfortable at parties anyway.

What would be a perfect Christmas day for you? Quiet day with family and food of course.

What have you bought so far for Christmas or how many cards have you posted/received?
I have made most of the gifts I am giving although I have bought gift cards for the twentysomething kids. A mantle clock; a jewelry box, and earring holders. My daughter and sil are not getting much and they usually get the lion's share. I just don't have anyone to give presents to.

What is your favourite Christmas movie or song? I like all Christmas music. I have to see Christmas Vacation once a year in December.

The FOOD!!! What will Christmas dinner be? Could be leftovers this year. Maybe I'll go to the soup kitchen so I will eat with someone...

How are you expecting Christmas to be this year?
My roommate said he wants to have people over. I told him I’m not comfortable with that, and he told me I can just wear a mask. Kinda missing the point there.

Q: How are you expecting Christmas to be this year?
A: A very reserved affair, a meal, swapping of presents, then chatting and going home. My sister and brother in law already said they cant come, my aunt is out also, and my mum hasn't joined us for many years, so its down to 5 of us now, me, my brother and his fiancé, and my dad and his girlfriend (appropriately aged, in case anyone is picturing a 90 year old with a 20 year old girlfriend)

Q: As an adult do you still get excited about Christmas, if so, why?
A: I do, mainly because of the Christmas challenge, last year my brother did Taskmaster, he did the graphics, ran the challenges in advance, edited it all together so we did the panel part of the show for Christmas voting and talking about our challenges. But for Christmas itself, not really, everything that I felt made Christmas special, we don't do anymore.

Q: Are you annoyed that there won't likely be any Christmas parties for work etc this year?
A: There is a good chance our work WILL have a Christmas party, we are one of those non-essential essential workers (essential enough to still be working through both lockdowns to support the essential workers, but not essential enough to be called essential workers ourselves it seems) so we can just call end-of-day early one day and share some cake and music.

Q: What would be a perfect Christmas day for you?
A: My mum is from Norway so we celebrate on Christmas Eve usually, or at least we used to, our Christmases lost a lot of what they were when my mum left my dad (and the country), all the traditional stuff left, and my brother did great to start a new tradition of Christmas challenges (seriously, he spends months preparing, and it shows!) But I think a perfect Christmas for me right now would be to have one of those old traditional Christmases back, just once. Choir music in the background, a fun meal of salted meats and sausage (apparently the Norwegian norm) and family joking with each other, then presents and a film.

Christmases under my brother's direction are always fun, but its more of a production than a family gathering now, and all traditional religious Christmas stuff is vetoed by him as he is one of those born again atheists who will call bullshit every time Christianity is mentioned.

Q: What have you bought so far for Christmas or how many cards have you posted/received?
A: I have done almost nothing, I should actually get moving on this, its just been one hell of a busy year this year.

Q: What is your favourite Christmas movie or song?
A:
For a Christmas song, it has to be Fairy-tale of New York, though it doesn't really feel like Christmas to me without the OLD classics, the religious choir songs.
As for Christmas movies, there are so many to choose from: Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, Gremlins, you name it :D

Q: The FOOD!!! What will Christmas dinner be?
A: IF we do manage to get together, my aunt has sent the host (my brother) a large amount of Christmas food to unfreeze and cook on the day, he hasn't told us much, but it will include ribs. Also, if the food is from my Aunt, she has definitely ordered it from somewhere extremely expensive, and probably from somewhere with a Royal Warrant like Donald Russel. (She sent me a care package from there not too long ago, and the food is VERY rich...)

Does anyone have any good or positive memories of Christmas when you were little, feel free to share them with us.
When I was very little we would go to Norway to visit my mum's parents for Christmas every other year, they had a lovely house with a long driveway, massive garden (by London standards) and part of the wood behind the house was theirs. We would go to church in the morning, come back and play in the snow, some years if you lay down in it, you could vanish, a couple of years we would even make a full-sized igloo with my dad. When we got too cold we would come in and sit by the log fire and eat uniquely Norwegian treats and wait for dinner cooked by Mormor (Grandmother in Norwegian, literally "Mum's Mum"), which was always amazing. When we were called to the table Morfar (Mum's Dad) would pick up the desert spoon and ask us what it was, he would do this every time, and he would always tell us "It is a prophet, it means desert is coming" Then we would eat and desert would come, and he would usher it in with "I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream" because whatever it was, there would be ice cream on the side. Then when we were finished eating and talking, we would all help clean up, and only after everything was cleaned and put away would be run into the lounge and open presents all together as a family with Christian traditional Christmas songs playing in the background.

These Christmases were so perfect that it doesn't feel like Christmas anymore without a fire, Christian music and Norwegian food shared together with a large family. I miss those times every year, but since Mormor is long dead and Mum left* and has turned into a conspiracy nut and my brother rebels against anything Christian, and without my mum or Mormor around the Norwegian stuff isn't don't anymore, it just hasn't been Christmas for years.

The biggest loss of all was definitely Mormor, I know this sounds biased since she is family, but she was something truly special, you dont see people like her anymore. She made christmas in Norway, she cooked all the food, baked the bread, organised everything, she was selfless and kind, she didnt have a cruel or callous bone in her whole body, and she was HYPER religious without needing to throw it in people's faces all the time... oh and she was the most stubborn human being I have ever met! Even when her leg has to be amputated and she was riddled with arthritis she wouldnt let anyone else brew a pot of tea or get food from the kitchen, SHE was the host, so SHE would get it for you, and no arguments!

*to be fair, when I said my mum left, I was 25 when she left my dad so its not like its a broken home situation

Not for myself but with some young and small children in the family, they can be very fun to watch.

Sleep late, be lazy perhaps watch a few Christmas show.

Merry PreChristmas @Champagne ,

Does anyone have any good or positive memories of Christmas when you were little?
yup. its more of a feeling than event. i suppose it was also a bit taking a peek under the tree (those years when we had a tree or just seeing the heap of gifts even with no tree and not necessarily understanding it but knowing it was something fun and magical. and full of anticipation!

How are you expecting Christmas to be this year?

probably fairly uneventful.

As an adult do you still get excited about Christmas, if so, why?

well, we hardly celebrate and to me, snow is an integral part of the holiday and i still keep wondering, where did all the snow go? just always dreaming of the good old days.

Are you annoyed that there won't likely be any Christmas parties for work etc this year?

part of me is annoyed that i don’t have any work either.

What would be a perfect Christmas day for you?

snowed in with something like 36 inches of snow, sub sub zero cold, warm warm inside, lots of favorite food, appropriate gifts actually delivered by santa and lots of good old classic christmas movies to watch. and a feast or two or three!

What is your favourite Christmas movie or song?
movie, a christmas carol (scrooge) staring Alistair Sim 1951 i believe. and song (or the music anyway...) Sleighride by Leroy Anderson

The FOOD!!! What will Christmas dinner be?
presently i do not know but the breakfast will hopefully be bagels and lox w/cream cheese. (a family annual tradition for years and years and i hear for many others too) and probably some nice coffee w/cream. maybe that’s the dinner even if early in the day!
