I've been to my group therapy this morning, making the most of it before it's shut down in December. Then I called in on a friend on the way home for a coffee and catch up.

In 40 years, what will people be nostalgic for?
At my age I'm unlikely to be here in 40 years to be nostalgic for anything
Maybe people will be nostalgic for real paper books.

What used to be considered trashy but now is very classy?
Denim

What is the most embarrassing thing you have ever worn?
When I was around 10 I had to go to a posh dinner with my parents. My mum bought me a new outfit - black velvet knickerbockers and matching waistcoat with a frilly white shirt. I looked like a pageboy from the 1800s.

In one sentence, how would you sum up the internet?
Well without it I wouldn't have found this place and all of you so I think it's pretty amazing.

What is the weirdest thing you have seen in someone else’s home?
When an old friend of mine had both of his dogs castrated he kept the removed appendages and set them in clear resin to make bookends. They were certainly a talking point.

What would be the worst thing for the government to make illegal?
Pets - they provide so much comfort and companionship to lonely people.

Yes, it was a bit more awkward for me because she is a cousin of my age lol. Never could guess that she was into this

Hey all, happy Tuesday. Hope you're all getting through this week as well as can be hoped.
Thanks for opening the cafe and for inviting me @Champagne.

Unfortunately I don't have many interesting/acceptably concise answers to today's questions, but @StrangeRanger's answer to this question made me think of one.

What is the weirdest thing you have seen in someone else’s home?

Well so it is not the most appropriate thing.. had a friend who would leave her 'intimate toys' laying all over her bathroom. She had a basket full of them just chilling next to the sink but they were scattered on the sink, floor & even in the shower she had, I never brought it up to her, it's her house but as soon as she realized they were literally all over she was super embarrassed. A similar thing happened with my old roommate too. I never want to be rude about such things, to each their own lmao

I met this other gay dude through my computing course, and we became semi-friendly, so he invited me over to his place to play some games, and at one point during our gaming session, he actually made the active decision to show me his collection of "intimate toys". It was an impression collection, I have to admit, but I was so confused by this. I honestly have no clue what was going through his head that made him decide to do that. Like, was this him trying to, yknow, get me "in the mood" or something?
Ironically, I thought he was kinda cute, but that behaviour just further confirmed my feelings that he was too weird even for me.

What is the most embarrassing thing you have ever worn?

Although I'm kinda embarrassed to admit it, appropriately enough, because the answer is that I once bought a dashiki thinking I could pull it off. I'm still unsure to this day if that was culturally insensitive of me, plus despite me ordering a large, this thing was way too snug. It left nothing to the imagination, and I am far from having the figure to pull that off. As Arin Hanson once put it:

What's wrong with having stuffed animals? Most people I know have at least one, even if it's just their favourite childhood toy.

beacuse brother I am a fellow brother lol

Similarly, there's nothing wrong with a man wearing a dress in this day and age. I've done it before, and the only thing I'm embarrassed about looking back on it is that I thought it was funny at the time.

It's a particularly stylish African article of clothing, so it may have been cultural appropriation of me to try wearing/owning one. Plus tbf, I'm not sure I could pull it off anyway.

I would argue it should be ok to wear in public. It may be a very left-leaning attitude though I admit, since it requires you to agree that gender norms are a fairly arbitrary concept. Plus I suspect belonging to an LGBTQ+ identity makes me more open to ideas like that.

Not sure what's the most embarrassing thing, but I used to put the bottom of any top/shirt/sweater in my pants, no matter how ridiculous it looked. I couldn't just leave an open space between the shirt and the pants, no way. It was terrible. That was in my early teenage years.

In one sentence, how would you sum up the internet?
Probably the most incredible invention, when you think about all that it contains.

What would be the worst thing for the government to make illegal?
I don't know... Food? Water? lol Sorry, got no interesting ideas.

@Auri the internet is an incredible invention and it contains information, movies, music, cartoon, email service etc. But it also contains some odd stuffs. So can it still be called incredible?

Welcome to the Cafe peeps.
What are you up to today? today i will be paying a lot of attention to the elections in the usa. i will also be listening to the radio - classical music - as i often do. i have no appointments today and maybe if i end up being the one to make dinner i’ll listen to the classic rock station with the volume up a little too much for my wife’s ears. i am also waiting for an important phone call crucially linked to my mental/physical well being so i’ll be hoping this person calls.

Psychology facts everyone needs to know. What do you think of them?

1. Research has found that good relationships are more important to a long life than exercise. this is scary. it may mean that i may end up having a fairly short life.
2. Your brain does more creative work when you’re tired. honestly i think my brain does creative work all the time. maybe its no coincidence that i always feel tired.
3. Falling in love has a similar neurological effect as getting high on cocaine. i’ve never experienced either!
4. The placebo effect is getting more powerful over time. As medical technology improves, our faith in medicine becomes stronger. faith i think can bring about the real as much as the nonreal. i’m not sure that is placebo though.
5. Volunteers are significantly more satisfied with their lives than non-volunteers. maybe people who volunteer tend to want to do what they are volunteering for. to me that would be making life more satisfying. in that case, i’m not surprised!.

In 40 years, what will people be nostalgic for? autocorrect. fake news. real news. bumble bees. dandelions. the rain forest. there may be a few other things too.

What used to be considered trashy but now is very classy? i’m not sure what qualifies as “classy” and i am projecting that “considered...” refers to anyone anywhere in the world. these (and more) come to mind and i’m not completely sure why... totalitarianism, antagonism, make believe capitalism, compassionlessness. unfair competition. denial.

What is the most embarrassing thing you have ever worn? if i tell you, do you promise you will never never never tell anyone else?

In one sentence, how would you sum up the internet? the internet is all the world’s troubles hidden in appearances of something else.

What is the weirdest thing you have seen in someone else’s home? me looking back at me in their bathroom mirror.
