So just did a random search and discovered today is National Picnic Day...so thought would open the cafe for a picnic...for anyone interested a cool article on picnics... https://www.smithsonianmag.com/innovation/picnics-are-back-180982102/

As a kid I grew up going on picnics occasionally in the local park on Sundays - my parents would read the Sunday paper we had simple fare of pastries, coffee & chocolate milk while I played on the jungle gym, slide and swings....

As long as I could relax in a hammock while these picnics were set up I would be all for them....lol...

Tysm for the tag @Kiwi2016 :) Omg lol, I just posted a cafe for today too, oops :p Oh well, I guess there's just 2 cafes for today then, or if people want, mine can be considered to be for Wed.Apr.24 instead, it doesn't make a difference to me either way lol. Thanks so much for posting a cafe today though, and cool theme with the picnic things! Love the pics too, they're fab :)

Ok I will post my fave foods, games, and locations for picnics now so here they are then.

Fave picnic foods: I'm not really that "fussy" overall in terms of "preference" but there's some foods I can't eat due to dietary restrictions. One of those things I can't eat that I know are often quite "popular" at picnics are sandwiches (yes, I miss them more than words could ever possibly describe!) but these days I enjoy any kind of pasta, salad, samosas, chinese food (don't think that's much of a "picnic food" though lol), crackers, chips, cookies, donuts, most fruits and vegetables, lots of things really. I don't actually go on picnics very much, but they are fun anyway :) Oh and some drinks I like on picnics are orange juice, chamomile tea, and/or green tea.

Fave picnic games: Catch, badminton (tennis is fine too but I kinda suck at it, lol), volleyball (maybe that's more of a "beach" game though, not sure) and I'm sure there's others but can't think of them right now sorry, lol.

Fave picnic locations: Anywhere really, but there's a park near us that's pretty nice, I guess I prefer to have a picnic "in a park" and especially quiet parks (the quieter the better of course, more peaceful and enjoyable that way imo) :)

Lol aw no worries, I worry about it every time I post a new cafe, but really it's ok if mine is just for "tomorrow" instead ;) Would kinda rather mine stay separate if it's ok, mine doesn't have much of a "theme" (other than "random" lol) but I posted a 4 pick a pic collage and tagged people there and all that so ya would rather it stay separate. If a mod sees this and wants to change the date for my cafe to be "Wed.24" instead then that would be fine with me ;) Hopefully each cafe will get some replies at least, like even if mine just got 5 I'd be happy, I know it maybe won't be that many since there's 2 and all, lol :p ;)

Favorite picnic foods...well whatever is available I guess :D I haven't been on a picnic in forever, sounds fun though.
I know I haven't been on one either since a kid as my husband and bug life and food don't mix... but along those lines a friend and I are considering setting up a croquet set where we live in a common area...so may yet get a picnic this year...

The More The Merrier! I agree w/!Lefty~*;)../-> :)
We could probably have ten cafe`s a day, and some people (myself included) would not get bored!
I wish we could all go on a picnic together right now. Or when our schedules have further cleared. . . :^)
I miss playing games, and the fun & festivities. It's been a really long-time since I've been to one:
probably ten years, or more~ / they were FUN Though--so GREAT IDEA @Kiwi2016 ;^)

Thanks for the tag @Kiwi2016
Sometimes when I go out somewhere and can't eat in the restaurant for whatever reason and I don't want to bring my stuff all the way home, and since I don't have a car to sit in, sometimes I will have a picnic on a patch of grass or a hill by the parking lot:D
Used to do that a lot with a Chinese place I liked that didn't have seating in the restaurant.

thank you for inviting me @Kiwi2016

my parents used to take us up to the lake almost every weekend on sundays. there were only around 25 picnic tables/ parking spots so we always got there by 7am. my mom and dad would cook breakfast on the little camp stove, then my dad would nap in the station wagon because he had to go to work at 11 pm and needed some sleep. sometimes my mom made hamburgers and hot dogs other times just a cold picnic lunch. i miss my mom and dad

It has been since I was a kid and the family would have picnics at the lake down the road from where I live. Eat, swim with every living creature in the lake and never think what is going past your legs. Fried chicken, mashed potatoes for supper and then fish, swim or nap. Love the Smithsonian link, I am a subscriber to the magazine. :)

Hey @Kiwi2016, nice cafe, thanks for opening it. *hug
My grandparents used to take me on these lovely picnics in the summer, somewhere by the seaside, but i can't remember where. We'd have tea with actual sugar cubes, and my nan would always make these incredible chicken sandwiches. I have no idea how she did it, but her chicken sandwiches were better than any others i've ever had. Then my granddad and i would start playing the most spiteful games of cricket you've ever seen, it was awesome. :D

Oh, Wow @Lisa the Goatgirl - that all sounds so wonderful! Such warm-hearted & great memories. . . Sounds like you had some outstanding Grandparents, there? : ) And you may have just now mentioned, yet another game that I really stink at..;) It must have been, AMAZING - to share those moments with them!
As for me, now I was wondering about the kinds of things I ate at these festivities growing up, and it's kind of hard to remember? Was it BBQ, type stuff? Or more fruits & veggie trays, all kinds of things like that. . . And then I remembered, I think Deviled Eggs, were a big thing for me at these (sorts of) functions, as it were. Always loved them, and to this day, if we're ordering a salad a t arestaurant, it's typically going to be / or very oftne one w/those in it (& I always ask for extra egg, rarely; however, do I get it!)... :D Cobb?
I don't know how you make them. I remember my Mother putting them in the fridge. I'm out right there, on that step. And I'm guessing that stuff that goes in the center or middle, is not all that easy (for someone like me) to make~* // or in other words: it isn't as simple as it looks! HaHahahaHA! ;-D

Never did picnics when I was a kid so I have no fond memories to share. My ex didn't do them either so no picnics while dating or married. Since then I have had multiple "picnics" which were basically large scale outdoor parties for the extended family and friends but not for a while. My friend would set up his smoker at my house and cook ribs and everyone else would bring something to share. We started having rainy days on the day of the cookouts as I called them and everyone made do with indoor food. I haven't had one in years, mostly because I haven't been able to coordinate a day with everyone and just too much work for me. I never really enjoy them because I am working too hard.

For outdoor games it is cornhole. I'd rather do volleyball. I'll leave it to someone else to post a cornhole picture. I searched but couldn't find one that I liked.
