I go to the salon for my pedicures, its so much easier and neater for me. Currently my toes are Candy Apple Red

I do my manicures at home. Currently my fingernails are a strange shade of burgundy/brown called Bogota Blackberry.

I use mostly OPI products. Their RapiDry is great. I had to search around for the right remover. The first thing I tried was 100% acetone, which really removes polish fast, but also dried out and damaged my nails. I don't recommend it! I ended up with some little pre moistened squares that are much gentler on my nails, can't recall the name, but if anyone is interested, let me know and I'll find a link.

Hello SF family! This is just for fun!

How about those little trips to the salon? Do you get your nails done?
If so, do you do both manicure and pedicure or just one?
What shades of polish do you like (if you get polish)?
or
Do you do your manicures/pedicures at home?

Thanks for posting a cafe for today Angie, fun theme even if it doesn’t really apply to me overall, but I will answer the q’s nonetheless ;) :) Hope you and everyone else are well.

1. I don’t do “trips to the salon” or “get my nails done”. Sometimes I paint my own fingernails but it’s pretty rare overall.

2. Neither, never had a pedicure and as for manicure, I think I might have had one of them many years ago.

3. Shades of nail polish I like are pink, purple, blue, and gray mostly. I have a yellow one too that was kinda fun, and of course I have orange, black, red and green for Xmas. Sparkly ones are nice but I don’t use them much cos they are much harder to remove.

4. Guess I ended up answering this one in the first question - yes, pretty much exclusively an “at home mani-pedi” gal here cos I’m so awesome, lol :p

5. I do not ever “cheap out” on nail polishes (ie never from dollar store, lol), but I usually just try to find some kind of decent brand name one, and if it says “fast drying” then I prefer that as well.

Will do a couple tags here too - @Witty_Sarcasm @Lisa the Goatgirl @seabird @Lane @Livelife @Baywasp @Innocent Forever @mosaic hearts

Thanks for the tag @JMG

I don't do manis or pedis anymore. Or wear nail polish on my toes any longer. My nails are trimmed short and work best with my lifestyle.
I take care of my cuticles at home and I don't use product to manage that.
Pretty simple.
Salon visits are for hair color every couple of months. If my hair was pretty silver instead of just gray I would stop doing that as well. But I did find a color product from England that my stylist at the salon uses for me. (less chemical content)

I paint my fingernails, but I just do it myself at home. Might be cool to get it done professionally sometime, but I get grossed out by things involving cuticles, so I don’t want anyone to mess with that. I use all kinds of nail polish colors, but my favorite is green. I feel like I’ve had trouble finding good greens. Maybe it’s not as popular. Idk.
I tend to use Sally Hansen the most. I like the Miracle Gel products, but I don’t always use the top coat. I feel like when I put on a top coat, the polish just peels off in one piece, and it gets annoying

I used to let my wife paint my nails. we had similar skin tones, so what looked good on me would generally look good on her. Usually 3 or 4 nails were painted different colors, then the rest the same after she decided. On the rare occasions they were all the same, it meant she was feeling decisive that day. And it came with a half-assed manicure, which I enjoyed.

Mine were always cracked and chipped because I didn’t take as good care of them.

“Hang out and watch TV or something while someone you love plays with your hands” is actually a pretty good way to spend some time. And I pretended I was doing her some kind of big favor, which meant I usually got a shoulder rub and lots of kisses out of the bargain too.

I never got a professional one, and nobody needs to touch my nasty-ass feet.

That treatment where little fish eat the dead skin off of them sounds nice. I’m too manly to ever get it on my own (I mean, just look at me, rawr) but, if anyone ever asked, I’d let them convince me pretty quick.

Ooh, this is a fun girly one. Thanks for opening the cafe @Angie, and for tagging me @JMG. *hug*hug

Do you do your manicures/pedicures at home?
Yeah, so far i've done all my nail care at home. I take regular care of my nails, keeping them short and tidy, rubbing in oils, and painting them now and again, when i have a good reason to, or the mood strikes me. Although my OCD still makes handling my toenails harder, so they tend to be a fair bit more neglected. I actually need to trim them soon, speaking of.

I haven't gone to a salon yet, but i'd actually really quite like to, as much as the thought of strangers touching my hands and feet weirds me out. It's one of a number of similar things i always wanted to do, but couldn't, cos it was the kind of behaviour i couldn't allow myself to engage in before.

If so, what products do you use?

I actually have a fun picture of my collection of nail polishes:

I use mostly OPI products
As you can see in the picture Angie, i have an OPI polish too. It's really high-quality, it was very generous of E to give it to me as part of a starter nail kit she gifted me when i was getting going. As you can probably also tell from the photo though, i was ultimately sold most on Rimmel. Their polishes are gorgeous. 😍

I also apply Cutex nail oil right before i go to sleep every night, which i find has done wonders for my nails. They were starting to look a bit battered by all the polishes and polish remover. You can literally see ridges in my nails from the point in time where i was still figuring out how to do all of this right. 😅

@Lisa the Goatgirl I like the kind of silvery blue one, right between the silver and the clear (or empty, but probably clear) one.
Ah yeah, that's my pure silver colour. It's almost gunmetal grey once it's applied.

I've gotten quite a few compliments wearing that one, it's very sophisticated and goes well with my skin tone imo. The other silvery one is my sparkly glitter silver. That's the one when i'm going less for "sophisticated woman" and more for "Disney princess/goofy teenage girl". :D

the clear (or empty, but probably clear) one
And yeah, that one's clear polish for undercoats. That way the colours of the polish don't stain the nails this ugly yellow colour for a few days after it comes off.

Nice collection!

Also, is the OPI called Bubble Bath? If so, I have that one, too!

Aw, thank you, i'm quite proud of my nice little collection. 🤭

I wasn't sure what the colour is, since i didn't buy it. So i checked the bottle, and the first obstacle is that E bought it in France, so everything is written in French. :D
I eventually went to the effort of translating the French, and it turns out none of it is the name of the colour, so i'm not sure. I think the best thing i can do is show what it looks like when it's been applied. So i dug up a picture of when i tried it.

(Please forgive the sloppiness of the application in this picture, it's from the literal first time i did nail polish. *hiding)
