Hello SF family. I hope this finds you well as can be. I'm having something of a health scare, waiting on results from a test. Also I am busy with college work. What are you up to these days?

I have some questions today about self check out in stores.

Does your grocery store/supermarket has self check out?
Do you use self check out if so?
Do you love it, hate it or feel neutral about self check out?

I actually like self check out as can pack groceries without feeling like I Love Lucy skit and chocolate factory.

My main grocery store is Trader Joe's, but they don't have self checkout. I like to use self checkout at other stores when I only have a few things, but if I have a lot of groceries, it can be nice to go in a standard line. Sometimes it's not always feasible because they have like one regular lane open for the entire store. I like that the option for self checkout is available, but I think they push it a little too much. Then half the time something doesn't go through right and a worker has to come over and fix it for me anyway.

Tysm for posting a cafe for today Angie, sorry to hear about your health scare too but as Kiwi2016 said, wishing the best for you with the results.

1. Yes, the grocery store I go to most often has some self-checkout stands.

2. I would use it, but I lost the value card for the store many years ago and never got around to getting a new one. Without that I don’t get any “card only” deals, so I always use a teller stand instead and give them my phone number. It’s a pain to always have to do that though. I should really just get a new card lol.

3. I know it’s kinda bad, but I like the self-checkout. Mostly cos it prevents me from having to act like some kind of normal, well-adjusted kind of person when I’m anything but lol. If there wasn’t the whole “acting perky” pressure with the real tellers, I probably wouldn’t care so much. I agree with those who are against them cos of them taking away real, human teller’s jobs. I guess I maybe have a love/hate relationship with the self-checkout, I dunno lol :p

1 Yes my local supermarket has self checkouts as well as served checkouts. I mainly use the self checkouts.

2 I do use the self checkouts mainly.

3 They suit me as I don't like some checkouts assistants handling my stuff. Ive had people coughing all over my food and then handling veg. The belts on the staffed checkouts can be dirty, which I dont like. I can control my environment better on the self checkouts.

@Angie Wishing you the best with your health scare but trust that the doctors will do what they can to help you.

Does your grocery store/supermarket has self check out? Yes but I go to two grocery stores: one with both people and self checkouts; the other with no self checkouts. (They have different items for food choices The one with no self checks has better prices but my pharmacy is in the other and the produce is better. I know TMI.)
Do you use self check out if so? Sometimes if I have a few things I will use self-checkout. I seem to still have problems with produce so I will go the non-self checkout in that case.
Do you love it, hate it or feel neutral about self check out? Sometimes the self checkout line is greater than the lines with no self checkout. I prefer the space of the traditional checkout.

Nope.

I used it some two times when I worked downtown. Didn't necessarily liked it. I think the first time I used it there was a guy there that helped me.

It is Progress. Progress has to happen.

They do in this area for a number of places.

That will mainly depend on if I have a lot or just a few things. A few things I am likely to use them otherwise I will use the regular ones knowing they will be quicker than my lazy ass. LOL

Pretty neutral for me. I can see the benefits time wise on quick trips with few items.

Do you use self check out if so? Yes.
Do you love it, hate it or feel neutral about self check out? I prefer it so I don't need to make small talk with the cashier 😂 But there are annoyances, such as waiting for a free machine while slowpokes dilly-dally, the machine complaining I didn't scan something when I did, having to wait for a staff person anyway if buying booze or items with anti-theft tags, etc.

I guess neutral, but it can be handy at times.
