Ya there’s lotsa Christmas stuff in the stores here already too. Yup I decorate for it, and some of my fave decorations for it are my cute stuffed animals and a reusable felt advent calendar that has little pouches on it for the 1st to 24th. We put little chocolates in it, it’s fun

Yeah, it tends to be the same over here in the UK, drives me nuts.
Although, i went out shopping just a couple of days ago, in a bunch of shops, and thankfully i didn't notice a tonne of Christmas decorations and Christmas music playing over the speakers. Which bodes well for me getting through the holiday season without wishing i could go deaf, just to stop hearing songs like Simply Having a Wonderful Christmas, or Do They Know it's Christmas.
Not any more. Some time in my 20s, the magic wore off, and i lost interest in it. So the last few years, i've enjoyed having quiet Christmases, although i'm debating being brave and doing the family Christmas this year, i think i'm probably gonna go. Thankfully still doesn't require me to decorate though.
As a kid i absolutely loved it though. I used to even insist we put all the decorations up early enough that they were up by my birthday, which is 3 days before. My birthdays always felt even more fun back then with that reminder Christmas was gonna happen soon after. Even though i don't decorate for Christmas any more, i still know which are my favourite decorations, because they're the ones my mum bought and had handed down to her. They still make me think of her, and they always did every time we used them.

I do like to decorate for each holiday and have had some of mine for 25 years or so. I know that my daughter, 22, still appreciates it and it makes me happy to look at.

I don’t decorate, period. I don’t even have any pictures on my walls. I have one or two that I haven’t hung up yet.
I do appreciate well decorated spaces. My partner was very good at this; I would go with him to Home Goods to get some stuff, and I pretty much felt like the whole store was just a pile of junk. He would grab some items that seemed totally random to me, and then he would get it home. He would transform the living room like one of those remodeling shows.
I am not that good, though. Most of my attempts end up just looking like clutter. I’m happy if I have less than a week’s worth of junk mail on the counter. I feel a bit cheated, in that I am gay, but I can’t decorate or accessorize. Maybe if I work at it…

I put up things on the mantel that are Christmas oriented - a wooden christmas tree and a statue of a house decorated for Christmas. This is the wooden Christmas tree I made. i would like to make more for others. I have shown this before.
I also put Christmas lights around my front windows. Somehow the kid in me refuses not to decorate for Christmas. It seems empty as it is nowadays - having decorations pick me up somewhat.
And I pull out my Yankee Candle Balsam and Fir candle and fill up the house with the smell of evergreen.
I dread this Christmas as I will be alone most of the time. I don't know why being alone on a holiday gets me down. Right now I do not have plans or anywhere to go to be with anyone. I have had days alone before but on a holiday is tough.

I don't think I've bothered in 10 years to decorate. I liked getting a real tree. I'm reminded now after dad died, my bossy sister took all the christmas stuff my mother had. I would like to put a small tree somewhere, and I always like either all blue lights or all white lights, I never even in childhood felt like all colours on the tree together look good. My mom used to let me decorate and put the star on top of a real tree. She got tired of doing it so in her last years she didn't want anything to do with Christmas.
I miss childhood, we did celebrate both Christ's birth in church, and getting each other gifts. Mom and dad would still have my brother and sister over many years ago and we'd get something for each other. A long long time ago. It's hard to get through it alone, but then again it's over in a matter of a week or so after new years we are back to the ordinary days.

I don't do much decorating, especially seasonally. It took me long enough to put anything up at my current place when I moved in. I now have 2 Tottenham flags (a Proud Lilywhites one and one from my local supporters club from a few seasons ago) in my bedroom, and in my other room I have 2 art prints (a picture of Tom Wilson in a Screaming Eagle Caps jersey and a picture of an opossum), a signed photo of Ossie Ardiles winning a trophy with Spurs, a calendar with Capitals players and dogs, and a flag version of the original Dalia Sapon-Shevin design of "Your heart is a muscle the size of your fist. Keep loving. Keep fighting." These stay up year-round.
My first Christmas since I had moved out in 2014, I decorated a small orchid plant very sloppily by putting little plastic toys in and taping pieces of paper on it and wrapping a charger around it in place of the Christmas tree that I couldn't have due to only having a small room of my own.

Decorating with greenery and small lights is what I enjoy. I hope to make it back to the PNW soon, and I will celebrate by putting up and turning on twinkle lights around the house and patio. I will use a living plant - we have a lot of plants - to decorate for the winter solstice. Right now I just want to get myself back home, and feel anxious I’m not going to make it there. So next week if I can, I guess I’ll decorate with some colorful flowers.

At Christmas my Dad would pick out a tree. He liked ones that had 5 small branches at the top. He thought of them as a star. It was his job to put on the decoration at the very top of the tree. My Mom and I usually did the rest. My brother was not much into decorating. We had a Steiff Santa that we always put under the tree. He was the big tradition.
My folks have been gone for many decades. I gave that Santa to my niece as Christmas is now at her place. I just put up a few things on my mantle at home. A Christmas bear and the stocking with my name on it. Have had that since I was a toddler. When I was younger I would get a tree and put lights up outside. Too much work these days. And trees cost too much. I still really like Christmas music.
