Happy New Year all
I live in New Zealand so it's already 3:13pm 1st January 2024.
I stayed up last night and spent some time in the chatroom here.

Wishing for more motivation to take better care of my health. Also wishing for friends and family to have a good year.

I'm proud of how I've handled several things last year without relapsing into old destructive habits.

My cat Tammy always makes me smile. She is a very loved and treasured part of my life.

I'm grateful for my friends in real life and on here who stuck besides me and supported me through some hard times.

Not celebrating tonight.

To re-start producing and selling, and to be loved. I always want more than I can have.

I'm not proud of anything I did. Proud of things my kiddos accomplished in their lives.

I smiled a lot on the beach, and at silly lorikeets and the wonderful currawongs

Grateful for, despite all the trouble, some good times with my partner

not really celebrating. I had some cookies though

I wish this unrelenting pain would at least decrease

I am proud that I didn't relapse despite really wanting to

Singing (badly) along with the radio

I'm grateful that war has not come into my immediate vicinity

Celebrating by sleeping! Wishing for solutions to get me out of this mess.

Proud of myself? Maybe for not keeling over (yet).

Smile from the roof company's sweepstakes ad: If you win, the roof is on the house.

Grateful for not encountering so many problems that can occur so easily. Hope I didn't jinx it.

Celebrating alone with a couple bottles.

my wish is to have relief. i don't care how... i just wish for relief.

i can't think of anything to be proud of myself for this past year.

One thing that mas made me smile this year is watching my first-born watching their first-born learn about life.

One thing i'm grateful for in the past year is the chance to get to know someone i was drawn to.

Thank you for the tag @Innocent Forever

Not celebrating New Year either. Looking through the responses, I thought I was unusual to try to ignore it, but looks like most of you here don’t celebrate it either.

This is a difficult question as I tend not to try to think ahead too far. I suppose my wish would be to have calm this year with no major things happening. I would like to have a year where nothing majorly awful happens, although my anxiety and current events are suggesting it might be otherwise.

I am proud of myself for having the strength to hold my Dads hand when he died. Although such a sad and difficult moment, I wanted him to know that he was loved and this was my way of showing that. I didn’t want him to die alone, instead he was surround by myself, my sister and my two daughters, who I am also immensely proud of.

My three children, especially when they are all together and we are playing family games.

I have three friends, and am grateful that they are supportive and caring. I know I can turn to them when I need to.

I know that the New Year can be very daunting for a lot of people. Watching others celebrate while you are fearing the future and what’s next. Sending hugs to anyone who is feeling this way.

Happy 2024 to everyone!

Last night I stayed home, ordered a pizza and watched Trading Places (1983). I fell asleep around 930, but woke up at 1158, just in time to see the wheel turn..I used to throw a party with friends and coworkers, but not anymore...too much hassle.

My primary wish for 2024 is for sanity to prevail on Nov. 5 (I live in the U.S.).

I'm proud of achieving nearly 24 years as a non-smoker, and 3 years as a non-drinker. I'm also proud of finally getting a passport! 😁

Lots of things made me smile this year...Watching my son really get into Monty Python and Red Green was fun...it's nice to be able to share my interests with him

I'm grateful to have a steady job, a decent place to live, reasonably good health, and friends and family that love me (and are loved in return).

I wish everyone here peace and a modicum of happiness in 2024 and beyond...πŸ•ŠοΈ

I'm going to make some New Year's Resolutions first and then answer the questions:

1. I'd like to read the Bible more often and try to remember and understand it better.
2. I want to finish the other book I've started, The Mortal Instruments, City of Heavenly Fire.
3. I want to spend a bit more time with my family without worrying that I'm a burden or look stupid crying all the time.
4. I want to go out a bit more often with my brother on the weekends and do some things we haven't done yet.
5. I want to get a good grade in my last course and graduate without any issues.
6. I want to try to get my driver's license after I finish school.
7. I want to find a job I don't hate.

*~*~*

One thing I'm proud of is getting this far with school despite my mental and physical illnesses.

One thing that made me smile is my mom's cat.

One thing I'm grateful for is talking to God and Him listening and helping me.

I forgot to celebrate, but I admit that the sleep part and going to bed pretty early last night was a part of it. :)

It is too early in the year for me to have come up with wishes, but hopefully nothing too off or expensive coming my way.

I do like the smile and too many to list, just watching time pass and wondering what will happen next.

So far in life I am pleased and grateful that physically I am still doing fairly well.

Didn't really celebrate. Worked 3-11 on the 31st and 1st.
Hoping to move to my own place in February, so I guess my wish is finding an apartment.
Proud of getting into and starting my PhD program last year.
Had a fun trip to Austin in May last year that made me smile.
Grateful I was able to stay out of the hospital in 2023 when I signed myself in 3 times at the end of 2022.

Hi! Have a wonderful new year, everyone!! *stars*grouphug2

How are you all celebrating- of you are
I did celebrate with all my friends. It was wonderful, we ate great cooked food (everyone brought something different), drank good wine, played/sang Christmas songs and we played games and VR!

What are your wishes for this year?
Ultimately, to move from the place I live in. But there are many steps to get there.

One thing you are proud of yourself for in the past year
I was generally happy. I think and hope I helped a few friends in difficult times.

One thing that made you smile in the last year
Too many things! Let's say, on New Year's Eve, putting glitter in a friend's beard.

One thing you are grateful for in the past year
Visiting my grandma and how much she cares about me (and me about her!).

How are you all celebrating- of you are
I slept through it last night; primarily because I was babysitting my grandson and he likes to get up before 7am. My phone exploded with texts at midnight of well wishes (Happy new Year) but I slept through them all.
What are your wishes for this year?
I would like to really lose some weight this year. Basically for emotional needs I would like to get over jealousy for being the only person not retiring this year and still working. It will be a tough haul. Esp after having a 2 week break and hanging at home.

One thing you are proud of yourself for in the past year
I got my black sash in tai chi but more importantly I very rarely cried in misery.
One thing that made you smile in the last year
I was pretty content last year but maybe did not smile enough.
One thing you are grateful for in the past year
My daughter who has been there for me through thick and thin.
@Auri you got me coloring my text. Thanks

My pastor is challenging us to read the Bible in 90 days. Google that topic and you will find the reading broken into days. Its just a quick read to get a really good over view of the book. You might want to check it out.

And that includes the entire Bible, cover to cover? I've been hoping to read it more often myself. I'm already familiar with many of the passages, but I still want to read it all again and get to know it even better. My counselor and I talked about the feeling of emptiness and she said reading the Bible consistently would help me feel closer to God and get rid of that feeling.
