Mostly I see it as no. Employees are a disposable resource to most businesses, like used toilet paper. Of course too many employees also see a business as an ATM machine and are furniture, more so now with how many have their nose stuck into a phone. Both sides are pretty bad.

Respectful treatment of an employee is quite common. But in my experience, it is only expressed in words. Is it respectful to have working conditions and pay where you can't afford your own home for the rest of your life?
Is it respectful if an employee spends most of his time at work without seeing his family and friends?

In my opinion, employers follow this rule: we do it because we can. And you are our slave. If you don't like it, that's your problem. You have no alternatives. And we will spend most of our time doing what we want to do, mostly entertainment. The only time we'll show up at work is to give you an instruction.

I don't think that's respect, that's mockery.
