I have a doctor appointment tomorrow. Do I straight up tell them that I want antidepressants? How do I aproach them?do they test you for drug use?

Just tell the Doctor your depressed and they should take it from there. He or She will ask you some questions and make a determination dependent on your responses. Just tell them truthfully your feelings and you'll most likely have a script for something when you leave.

Your best antidepressant are the people who care enough to answer your questions and have some idea of what its like to be depressed. Remember almost, (there's aways the odd bird,) everyone here at SF has worn or is wearing the "depressed shoes" at any given moment. One size does not fit all but even though our individual source of depression isn't the same the thoughts we've had are probably very much the same. Please don't forget, we are here when you want someone to chat with, to vent to, a shoulder to cry on, and yes even someone to laugh with.

    Hope this helps you.

sorry I missed you in the chatroom. the doctor will ask you what drugs or medications you are currently using. This is to prevent conficts in medications. Like Nitrogycerin and Viagra which in combination can be fatal for some.

Just remember that among all the drugs a doctor can prescribe, typical antidepressants are among the least harmful. I think you can be explicit about it - in a study, if a person went to a doctor with the name of a drug (I think antidepressants), 9/10 got it. They're harmless so you don't have to worry about being thrown out for drug seeking (asking a doctor for lorazepam got me in trouble once >_< but that is harmful and addictive.)
