I tried to have an MRI today but panicked. Now I have to try again next week. I have anxiety from that, anxiety for a diagnosis, anxiety because of the pain I'm in and scared it won't get better.

your pain can't get better unless they know what's wrong. look at the mri as your first step to reconery. I have to have one wednsday as part of my yearly cancer screening. i'm a little nervous but if they find nothing then great, but if they find something it's early and I can recover. an mri is a good thing try not to fear it...mike...*console*hug

I didn't know I was claustrophobic until they put me in there. I had a panic attack. They're sending me to a different place next week that is an 'open sided' one. My heart was racing. I've always been afraid of fire so I've never wanted to be cremated ( can I say this on here?) but now I don't want to be buried. It just added to the stress of everything.

the kind i'm going to wednsday is the open sided kind and definitely better. and I have a serious fear of cremation when I pass also. I am going to be buried but if I could afford it I would prefer above ground. but it's important to make your wishes known and make it legal in writing. but do not dwell on death and arrangements. keep trying to focus on living and improving your quality of life....mike...*hug

There's a cremation which I can't think of the word now but it's done by freezing. It's super expensive and only offered in three states or something. Not where I live.

Could taking an anti anxiety medicine before the MRI help? Is it an option?

I take 1mg Klonopin at bedtime to help me sleep. I was told to take 2mg an hour before the test. Yesterday they asked.me if I had any Valium with me. (?!) As casually as they would ask if I had any gum.

I got there. It wasn't an open MRI like they told me. It was a wide body. The tech said I was small so it wouldn't be a problem like the other one was. I'm glad I was medicated. I made it but am extremely exhausted today. Next week is a CT scan. Shouldn't be as bad but it's still $$$ and I wasn't expecting to pay up front yesterday. They didn't tell me last week.

I'm really glad you made it through your MRI. It'll be worth it in the end (sorry these damn things are so pricey!)

@Leesa I get it. I had two heart tests about a week ago. Have to call tomorrow and set up another. They are very scary. You almost wind up wishing you never started them. But keep at it. Dealing with it now could prevent more problems tomorrow.

If I was a football player, I'd be benched for the season. He said I will see improvement but it will take a while. And my neurologist might have to drain some fluid. CT scan on Wednesday.
