My Neighbor committed Suicide

In this apartment complex, there are many tenants. And a few are good friends. Linda was one of those few. I knew her because she lived on the same floor as I still do.

She committed suicide. And even though Linda did not leave any suicide note, but I know why she took her life. It was because she had bipolar which is a very serious mental illness.

I have a mental disorder myself but of a different kind. I found out about Linda's bipolar through an unusual coincidence. Because one day when I went to my usual session with my therapist, I was so surprised to see her in the therapist's waiting room. Yes, she had the same therapist as me, and her appointment happened to be just before mine! So that's how we happened to become friends. Especially because we were already neighbors in the same apartment complex.

Throughout our acquaintance, I never knew of her hidden agony, because I thought her meds kept it well under control. But obviously not. That's why I empathize with those on this forum who struggle with a disorder that even meds fail at relieving. The hope is that they have to try many different meds before finally finding one that helps. I don't know if Linda did that but evidently the agony must have been too overwhelming for her.

Every time I used to talk to her, she used to joke around and laugh. So I still cannot figure out why she gave up.
