If you happen to love math and have an interest in space its hard not to believe in extra terrestrial life. The universe is a big place. A really really really big place. Scientists estimate that in the 5% of the universe we have discovered there are about 150 million galaxies each containing 100 to 150 million stars. If we go with the law of averages we get to about 18.750.000.000 stars in the known universe. Even if the chance of a planet being in the goldilocks zone is 1 in a million that still leaves a lot of stars which could have a planet that sustains life. And this is only the 5% of the universe we have actually discovered or been able to study… It boggles the mind.

As far as extra terrestrials we will ever come in contact with in our life-time? Yea I think microbes will be our best bet.
