No shame in using a shopping service

Until recently, I had been doing all the shopping for us. The wife can't get around anymore. Now I am having problems. I injured myself pretty badly doing my wife's physical assists. Buying a medical grade lift was expensive but easy to swallow. What wasn't so easy for me was asking for help with the grocery getting. But you know what? Using a shopping service with a mobile app is not meals on wheels. It's a paid service. You even tip your shopper/driver when they get to your door. And I have met some very good-hearted people this way. Even a registered nurse who gave me her cell number in case I need help with my wife at an odd hour.

In my case, my troubles are physical. But even if you can't deal with going outside because you're depressed, please don't starve yourselves. If I can bring myself to pay someone to do my shopping, anyone can. And I'm so stubborn and independent I hurt myself before even thinking of buying a machine to help me with my wife.

We don't have a car and regularly get our groceries delivered. I'm not sure if this is different from what you're talking about. We do have to pay a delivery charge but it's usually about $5. These days just about anything can be delivered and I know people balk at the fees but it's much cheaper than owning a vehicle.

Actually my oldest brother-in-law chided us yesterday for having DQ Blizzards delivered, demanding to know how much it cost. My husband said it was $6 for the delivery (including tip), then asked what his brother paid for his car, insurance and gas each month.

I'm not sure as to whether or not I can mention the mobile app by name. But we're probably on the same page. A car I have, but I'm badly injured, so walking around and lifting packages is temporarily off my menu. But I'm only 54, so I had to swallow my ego and sign up for the service. Turns out it's not embarrassing and like I said, I've met some good people using it.

That's awesome and I'm glad.

Timely advice @Kowalski thank you. The grocery shops are not happening when I'm depressed &/or anxious.

Also, I'm really glad to read of how your improvements are helping. Hope your back feels better.

I always thought it was a very normal thing, why would someone even think of the word shameful??
Either way I love shopping, it's probably my fave activity ever. I am on vacation in another country for two weeks so far and for the most part I spent it wandering around in malls lol.

I'm the kind of guy who won't ask for help even when I both need and deserve it. If I can do for myself, I will. I even hated collecting unemployment insurance from the system into which I had paid. I'd make for a pretty bad rich person. I don't want to ride in the limo, I want to drive the bloomin' thing! :D
