OCD and compulsive verbalisations?

I had questionable behaviors when taking certain meds but nothing that I can recall when taking clozapine.
I was speaking to another guy who was on Clozapine, and he said all his OCD symptoms went away after ceasing it. This thing I am experiencing is very distressing. It's like I have no control over what comes out of my mouth.

Sometimes the thing we want to circumvent becomes more prevalent when we actively focus on it.

What if you can channel your attention to something that can distract you.

What can you control.

Could you make it a point to write down what you want to say before speaking it aloud?

Could you create a reward system for yourself that you grant yourself an enjoyable gift for set milestone achievements?

I’m just saying if one can’t combat a situation head-on, maybe the sideline approach could be beneficial.

Could you frequent places where it would be very inappropriate to blurt out?

Those are rhetorical questions.

Best Wishes

I’m not on Clozapine and I’m not diagnosed with OCD, although I’m not going out of my way to get screening. My therapist has described a form of OCD characterized by scrupulousness, which is disordered when I assume I’m a horrible person when I truly do my best to refrain from causing harm.

I also struggle with involuntary vocalizations.
I have noticed that it happens less frequently if I manage my anxiety ahead of time.

I wish I did not have them, and I literally hate it when it happens. I'm not diagnosed with anything in particular besides high anxiety & occasional mild depression. But, as much as possible, I avoid doctors - so who knows. I'm sorry you've got this @Pebble mouse . For me it comes and goes, and is much more likely to happen when I'm someplace unfamiliar, as well as in crowded circumstances when have to speak to someone.

Just dropping by. I was walking around in downtown today, enjoying the shade of the urban canyons. I had visited with good friends for brunch and decided to take the scenic route back to my parking spot for exercise and just enjoying the city with almost no traffic. Along the way, though, I had a few memories hit me, and/or intrusive thoughts and I would have these impulses to talk back to the violent noise in my head. I managed to suppress it into a few grunts that i could probably pass off as pain spikes if I was challenged to prove I'm not seeing things. The struggle is real and I wonder if I'm losing it.

On the bright side, if I end up in full-blown dementia, I won't be self aware enough to be upset about it.

Oh goodness, since we discussed this, I’m finding myself more aware of the things that escape my mouth without permission, lol.

It’s really a thing at home. Sometimes what I’m doing will remind me of a past interaction that I am resentful about. I don’t know how to manage it. What happens is that something really aggressive and loud comes out, like FUUUUUUUCK THOSE FUCKING GODDAM STUPID ASSHOLES! OH MY FUCKING GOD! DIE IN A FIRE!!! I have to hope the neighbors are not home or otherwise unlikely to notice.

Yesterday, I had a success, though. I knew it was about to happen so I stuffed the broad side of my forearm into my mouth to muffle it. This worked, so good deal.

I might or might not have a ball gag on hand that could make this easier. In fact, I got it for a similar purpose, mainly because I also grunt and vocalize loudly if I am doing chores or exercising in the place. I’m probably pretty weird to do that, but it’s less weird, IMHO, than traipsing around my apartment with a pair of socks handy to muffle my screams. 🫤

I’m dealing with intrusive thoughts and compulsive verbalisations (sometimes under my breath, sometimes not) as part of my OCD, which I believe is induced by my Clozapine treatment. I say shocking things out loud that I don’t mean and don’t want to say. I’m wondering if anyone else who has OCD has experienced something similar?
Are there any particular thoughts that compel you to blurt things out?
