I'm writing this with an abundantly heavy heart. I'm not even sure how to sum this up.
On April 7th I needed to take my ex, the father of my children, to the ER. He was extremely weak, had lost 25lbs in a month (he did have any to spare in the first place), and had become severely confused. He was also malnourished because he couldn't eat, and was also severely dehydrated.
After getting him to the ER it didn't take long for them to determine he needed to be admitted. On top of all that they discovered his sodium to be dangerously low to the point he could start having seizures. His liver function was also too high.
They admitted him, and began running a plethora of tests throughout the next week.
In the meantime while they were doing tests I got a call from my father informing me that he had his 2nd episode of congestive heart failure in the last 2-3mon. He was also in a car accident during a hail storm where his shoulder was separated and he got pretty banged up. It left me wondering how much more his heart was going to be able to take. (He's 80yrs old, and has already survived 2 major heart attacks and one minor one.)
Anyways, exactly a week after my ex was admitted we finally learned what was causing his symptoms. He was diagnosed with Non Hodgkins lymphoma, type B, stage 4, the aggressive form. (Turns out it was actually super aggressive.) We were all devastated, myself included, with the news.
The day after his receiving the diagnosis I learned that a VERY dear friend of mine killed herself that week. I was crushed beyond belief. I didn't see it coming, either.
During the rest of April my ex was having all sorts of unexpected issues, rare and/or unexpected ones at that. It was one thing after another. He had even been transferred to a different hospital because he needed a higher level of care than the first one could offer.
After having been there for four days we were finally given the prognosis of him having a week to live at the very max. He was so bad off I suspected he had a few days at the most. Sadly, I was right. 25 days after receiving the diagnosis he peacefully passed away while our daughter was holding his hand (so he didn't die alone). So I lost two important people in my life in a month's time.
I miss them both terribly, and hoping the surreal amount of sadness passes soon. I'm drowning in it.
RIP Lynn and Jessica!!! I miss you both so much!!!
