Pain management

I went to the pain management clinic and had nerve blocks done for the first time. I screamed, shook, and bawled. I'm scared.

I am sorry you went through that. the experience must have been overwhelming *console

was it an injection? or did they do surgery?

are you feeling any relief from the pain?

They did cervical nerve blocks. Right side has improved somewhat but not the left. You're supposed to have an 80 percent important immediately. I don't know how to quantify that. That may be true of the right side or i might be in so much pain on the left that I'm focused on that.

is there any follow-up scheduled? Did they do only one side? If this is your first, they may have only done one side to check for adverse reactions. Call the pain clinic tomorrow and tell them you feel marked improvement on one side, but not on the other. Also, monitor your pupil dilation for the next 24 hours. If it is uneven (like one black circle is a very noticably different size than the other), go to the hospital immeadiately.

They did both sides and I get it done again next week. Same thing but they're going to sedate me. I see my neurologist tomorrow.

It's been several hours since the injection. By this time the freezing should have taken effect. Have you noticed any improvement at all on your left side since then? It's really important to stay still during these injections, because it's easy for the needle to go somewhere it's not supposed to.

No improvement. Just sore.

I went to my neurologist today. He wants me to see an orthopedic doctor and cancel the nerve blocks for the time being. I'm feeling more confident in that. The other place...I feel like they don't listen. And I was in pain all night from the injection site.

Did the neurologist check the clinics work to make sure you were ok?

Yes. The call I had from the pain clinic this morning was odd. I talked to them right before I saw him. I'm so glad I saw him today. He can't guarantee a fix but I know he is looking out for my best interests in the overall scheme of things. I'm going for TMS evaluation in two weeks and he thinks that's a good thing. My neck is still really hurting from the injection but should be much better by tomorrow. I have a killer headache. I went to my therapist right after and all I've eaten is a banana and had a hot chocolate. I just got home and don't plan to leave. My work holiday party is tonight but I'm not going. I decided that a couple weeks ago. It's too much.
