Pipe mistake

Last night I turned off the water to our house, per the freeze, but I neglected to turn on faucets and let water run to drain the pipes.

Now, I'm worried that I've incurred damage to our pipes. I worry how expensive it can be to repair.

Does your place have power or is the house cold?

Some houses have a low spot in the basement or crawl space with a drain, which you can open to drain the whole system once you've turned the intake water off.

My guess is that things are probably fine, and if you turn the water back on everything will be ok.

The main concern with a freeze is that a pipe can burst, but if no pipe burst you should be fine. I think the pipe bursts usually occur when there is a combination of very cold temperatures and not running the water in the pipes.
