Possible side effect?

I know I should talk to my doctor about this, and I intend to. But until I see her next week, I figured I'd post on here.

So firstly I was put on zoloft, but that made me suicidal so they took me off of that. They put me on lexapro, but that didn't do anything by itself. So I'm still on that, but they also put me on Lamictal. I've been on both for a month or so. And I've felt like I've been going crazy or something. I've always had problems with anger, but I've been increasingly aggressive. My husband and I have a rocky history. We've both been kind of violent towards each other a few times. But I feel like I've gotten worse. A few weeks ago, I hit him. And every time we fight, I just get so angry and I want to be violent.

Could this be a side effect of the lexapto, lamictal, or the combination of both? Of course, as I said, I'm going to talk to my doctor about it. But I wanted to post on here because this forum has helped me in the past, and I want someone to relate to. Because I feel like I'm losing my mind, and posting on here is the only thing I can do RIGHT NOW. I just don't want to do something stupid

Hi Rena,

I am so sorry you're feeling so unsteady right now! I know Lamictal is for seizures and bipolar disorder. Maybe the Lamcital isn't working out well with your body? Or maybe the combo of Lexapro and Lamictal isn't that great? I suggest calling your doctor's office and letting a nurse or even the receptionist know you do NOT feel well and need to be seen sooner. Most doctor's offices are understanding about mental health emergencies and will do their best to fit you in ASAP.

As for you and your husband's rocky history.. if your husband and you are fighting and you feel you become violent, is there a friend's place or a family member's house you can go to? Just to get out of that environment and cool down since you both seem to need it. I truly hope you receive the help you deserve and proper meds. Keep us all posted, please! -hugs-

Excellent advice give here. Just wanted to post to let you know you are not alone, there's plenty of support available here. I agree it could be a side effect, see the doctor or nurse asap.

Hi Rena,
done some checking, aggresion is a common side effect associated with Lamictal, regarding Lexapro, that too can cause aggression although it is a rare side effect, it may be exacacerbating the levels of aggression you have been experiencing.
Normally with lexapro, it takes around 2-4 weeks for the beneficial effects to take effect. However, as already posted her by others, it would be wise to try to arrange an appointment with your doc as soon as possible.
