Another thing that would help is losing weight and getting into shape, but working on that atm is hard because of the pneumonia. I have no energy to do anything.
What a pain. Sorry it's been just one thing after another like this. When your body is fighting off a bug then it can be unwise to exercise anyway. The theory as I heard it, was that the process of working out as it's creating the micro-tears around which the muscles build up stronger fibers, also pumps a whole lot of blood into the muscles. If your system is awash in pathogens, you could actually make the infection worse by forcing it deeper into muscle tissue than it would have reached without the exercise.

NB: the whiskey cure, as in getting sufficiently high concentrations of ethanol into the blood in hopes of it being able to kill germs like with hand sanitizer, is a scam.

Christ. Can’t think of anything helpful to say. I’m thinking about you for what little that’s worth. You’re really going through it. I hope… I hope, I hope, I hope and all the hoping in the world won’t do a damn thing.

Sorry, you don’t need negativity.

Pacers are helpful. I hope you can find the right dr to help you manage this. Did your dad need a pacer too?
It’s a busy week for AFib- you, my niece had an ablation, brother started nitroglycerin, beta blocker & anticoagulant, and my friend with a pacer/defib was in afib for a few weeks- even with the hardware installed!
the moral of the story is, with treatment they are living well.
and I expect the same of you! 😁
is it terrible of me for wanting to go on nitroglycerine solely for the purpose of being able to sing "T-N-T" by AC/DC and be literal about that?

Something tells me that using drugs as a marketing strategy would backfire spectacularly.

Oh I am struggling with college and physical issues. But this too, shall pass
I'm sorry @Angie. I hope you can sort the issues out.

I would be frightened also.

Don't know how I can help, except be here to listen, and you are welcome to contact me anytime.
Thank you. You are already helping by listening to me. There is at least a 1 in 3 chance I will have a major stroke. I'm going to the stroke clinic at the hospital next Tuesday. I assume they will fit me with a Holter monitor for the AFIB. I'm getting the best possible help, so I can't complain. Trying to stay positive.

It's a lot all at once going on. :/

I hope the pneumonia clars off and the doctors can address your atrial fibrillation. It runs through my side of this family too. I hope yours can be healed and they get you all patched up so you could get some easing of worry and fear as soon as possible. Then you can have fun working out and going for walks again. I look forward to that, and pics of new Sydney exporations.
Thanks @Windhover. My breathing is back to normal, so the antibiotics seem to be working. Sorry to hear it runs in your family also. My dad has had no complications from his AFIB. He sees a cardiologist every six months, but he hasn't had any issues at all apart from one episode where he was diagnosed (he lost conciousnesss at a mall). If I need a pacemaker, that is fine. Anything that helps. I'm looking forward to getting back to the exercise! I want to lose about 10kg. That and my travels around Sydney again :)

(h) Back at you. I hope you are doing well with the psychologist.

The neurologist I will be seeing on Tuesday is a senior doctor, so I will be in good hands. As I said to @Windhover, my dad has had no complications due to his AFIB, except for the one episode. I will find out more in a few days. Thanks for being here for me. It's very much appreciated.

I have a pacer put in 2 years ago. Not that I wanted one but I have cardiac block. No reason for the cardiac block. I was 64 yo and they considered me too young but they couldn't deny that I needed the pacer. So 8 years until they have to replace it -not looking forward to that but I have to be realistic. I have returned to being well and back to exercising.
Sorry to hear of your troubles. I had no idea they needed replacing, but I'm happy to hear you are doing well now. I really miss my walks and going to the gym with my PT. Next week, when I see my GP, I will ask when I can get back to it.

Thanks, @Gonz. You come across as a lovely man. I know you have had your own troubles with a stroke. The fact that I am in your thoughts is plenty of help. I wish you the best in your recovery. Are you still doing rehab?

#69
Thanks @Pebble mouse, I’m not in rehab anymore, the neurologist has said that there will be no more significant improvement after the first year. Maybe I can still get better at adapting, but that’s it.

That’s why I’m glad that you’re taking it seriously. Time is of the essence when it comes to recovery. Everything went wrong when it came to promptness in my case. If you‘re already seeing doctors, have this in your records, then you and they will immediately know what it is if, god forbid, you have a major one.
