There are ketimine clinics in my area. I will never be able to afford them. I am working class, but my life is still worth trying to save. I've been reading the studies coming out of Yale, John's Hopkins, etc. It is sick and wrong that only the wealthy have access to these medicines. I need help and the gatekeepers aren't giving it to me.

@Innocent Forever yes but it’s worth doing a lot of research on benefits and risks.
I believe in it and that from what I know already it can be used appropriately and safely when already known safeguards are in place. From information I know of, it appears that psychedelics are not dangerous and risky in ways that legal restrictions presently in place imply. Hopefully there will be more understanding of risks and benefits so that legalization as treatment/therapy will come about - the sooner the better. I support further study and research since in my opinion, "mental healthcare" is grossly lacking presently and we need more options and more understanding of the issues and the treatments.

time ran out to edit soooo,,,,
just wanted add.... "...of the issues and treatments. So you don't have peeps like me running around self diagnosing and finding their own treatments, therapies, and positive roads to travel. It don't always work that way! People should not be left only to their own devices - as i was - for so many years. I'm just lucky i found my way in the dark. 🫶👽

I agree that psychedelics can be very helpful and some fears about them are overblown. However there are real dangers and risks, and how they are used absolutely matters. Lastly, I would not want to be in place of advising people here, hence suggesting to do the research and know your own possible risks and benefits.

I hope I sounded like I am in agreement with what you are saying. though I do need to point out that my self diagnosing and treatment did not involve using psychedelics. I was just not receiving appropriate care and need to follow my own thinking. psychedelics might have been helpful for me but if or not will never be known? I do think not enough is being done in terms of legalization and research and I wish people would demand appropriate attention to this.

Well, basically, psychedelics have been rapidly moving through studies and trials that will eventually lead to more legalization. Some are already decriminalized or legal in some places. Eg you can legally do ketamine treatments. The process just takes years and was set back by Congress in the 60s.

I just feel that there is lethargy in people addressing legalization. for example California Governor Gavin Newsom vetoing a bill that would have legalized some possession.

yes it could be argued that legalization w/o safeguards is dangerous. but it is likely, that "possession" there exists already anyway. and what the F is going on wasting time and money on a bill that does not provide safeguards if everyone agrees that that is what's needed???

I will admit I don't know all the specifics of this instance but still feel that so far it's just been a big song and dance and no action.

mental health issues are not in decline; the american/world's healthcare system/s - mental healthcare especially - is grossly pathetic at best and prescribing dangerous chemicals to the "mentally ill" should be a "last line of defense", not first.

from what I hear, psychedelics is way safer than psych meds. Much of the stuff the pharma companies are are selling are known to cause permanent involuntary muscle movements for example (which I consider an unfair trade-off) - which is why I've moved to safer better ways of dealing with my own issues - some of which freak out some peeps who know - but might have been avoided had psychedelics been legal for me.

It is way past time for casual discussion about this (in the world) and rather than killing each other - let's address the real issues that make us kill each other and start healing instead. Swift safe legalization of psychedelics is a good first step. 👽
