Religion: DO you think if you commit suicide you will go to hell?

The destination for those who commit suicide. That's been fodder for debate in any century. I've heard, reading all the replies, a lot of confusion surrounding hell, a loving God, people who kill themselves, and where those people will go at death.
I've thought a lot about these debates, as well as having read and researched them.
The basic question seems to have become in these pages of responses, the existence or the character of God. I will give away my beliefs by saying that I believe in a loving God, who is also a God of grace. I believe, further, that, being a loving, gracious God, it would be inconsistent with his character to condemn to hell any person who loves him and believes in him.
I have attempted suicide a number of times, but the doubt of my eternal destination has never been an issue for me. My destiny has been determined by accepting and trusting this loving God. I know many don't share my belief, but it's the only one I can hold with integrity as a follower of Christ.
Suicide is fraught with a long list of fears, ideas, opinions, biases, and so on. We don't need to add to the list a fear of an angry god who delights in sending sinners to an eternal hell. I'm confident that he finds no delight at all in sending people to hell. When it comes down to it, he doesn't make the decision. The decision where we will spend eternity is ours, not his.
Books have been and will continue to be written about all the issues that have been addressed in this thread. I don't plan to be one of the authors, so I will stop before it appears that I've started my own epic.

i believe in hell,but my belief is that this is hell.we live in hell each and every day.i had 5 friends commit suicide over the past 8 years for different reasons,they all had been mental health patients.they say God will never give you more than you can bear,don't get me wrong i believe in God too and i talk to Him several times a day, but,they got more that they could handle and i believe that God has a certain,say,escape clause,if you will,i know it may sound stupid but i know other people who think this too. but this "escape clause" is for people who commit suicide and they go to heaven.they just couldn't take anymore and they snapped.anyway,that's my view.

God bless you, middleofnowhere. I am happy that at least someone besides me believes this way about God. I don't appreciate that so many Christians demonize God into being a heavenly monster who hates almost everyone and sends them all to hell. God is loving and forgiving, not evil and spiteful like many fear mongerers make God out to be for their own selfish purposes.
Well, I am Christian. I believe suicide is a sin. But there is hope. :smile: It's been brought to my attention that in some or most cases people who commit suicide are SOMETIMES not in their right minds, so they can't be held FULLY accountable for their actions. Just remember this is only MY OPINION
I have been thinking about this a lot. I do not believe in GOD but the past week I have been thinking about it a lot and i guess starting to believe there may be a god... maybe not the one in the bible but some sort of god.
SO do you think if you do do it you will go to hell? If so why are you always thinking about it
