Scary experience

I just got out of ICU in the hospital. I went to the emergency room with signs of a stroke. They immediately took me back and started the tests. Within thirty minutes of being there I was talking to the neurologist. He recommended a medication to break up a clot but had a 6% chance of brain bleeding. This however seemed like the best and safest option for me as to not suffer long term damage. I took the medicine and was transferred from my local hospital up north by ambulance to that hospital’s ICU. Everything went so quickly when I got there more tests and the n came the being checked on every half hour to begin with. They would come in shine a flashlight in my eyes and do a neurological exam. Then it went to every hour. Then came more tests. I was released today with the diagnosis of TIA transient ischemic attack or a minor stroke it was brought on by stress. This site really scared me
As I’m only 39 and a single mother. I am so greatful to be able to say there is no long term damage due to me being willing to take the meds as fast as I did. I am really thankful to still be here today.

Wow! That is really scary to hear. I am so thankful as well that you were able to get treated on-time, and that it sounds like you were taken good care of by all parties involved, and at each step of the way! I never even knew you could get, or have a stroke, due to stress. But it makes sense, I guess... Just grateful everything turned out relatively okay, for you @Bbear82 ~

That's one hell of an experience that you've had there. Good that you accessed treatment as quick as you did. One of those instances where every second counts where it comes to minimising damage.

The sense of relief must be immense after having come through such an event. Best wishes with your recovery and that all follow up advice goes well for you.

It must have been very shocking and stressful to experience something like that. I’m glad you seem to have made it through without any physical damage.
Its good talk about these things, because an event like that can have quite an impact on you mentally as well. Often, the medical staff just concentrate on your physical well-being and then you get discharged and you are kind of left wondering what the hell happened and how to make sense of it all.
