here instead of my own thread! on sept 11 back then, i emerged from the subway on my way to work moments after the first plane hit. there was a perfect view from where i started walking to where i arrived a half hour later (work), i believe i watched the second without actually understanding what i was seeing even though in my mind i did figure it out.

once at work, we all listened to the radio and through a huge window in our building (in queens across the river) we watched the worst of it. i don’t really have word… just feelings of how much worse it might be like maybe everyone needed to run for cover.

my wife was 6+ months pregnant with our second son. we spoke on the phone. what a world. so vivid the memories… but i don’t remember the rest of the day. only days of clouds of smoke drifting by our living room window.
