Mirtazapine is very sedative, so you are likely to feel very sleepy at night. I think that’s a fairly standard process to switch from one med to the other. Some mh meds need to be stopped before starting the next, but the switch from sertraline to mirtazapine can be done by titration from one to the other.
I switched between them a few years ago and had no problems. Hope your transition goes smoothly and the sertraline side effects ease up.

But I am glad about the fact I can stay asleep now

Indeed, it really depends on what combination of medication you take, but if your doctor said you could take both at the same time, you'll be fine. :)

When I tried Mirtazapine I was also very sleepy (and hungry) all the time, but I believe that should become easier with time. Try having a regular schedule and "discipline" with your sleep, your body will be happy and adjust. Sleep is good. :D

Lol I wish I had a med that would reduce my salivation. I have way more than I need, and even my dentist commented on it first time I saw him, so I’m guessing it’s more than normal.

Getting back on topic is the mirtazepine helping with SI? I tried sertraline, no luck, but side effects were there. Fluoxetine helps with mood and just about solved my anxiety, both general and situational, but neither helped with the SI, so it was like my depression scale went from severe to mild, but I still wanted to ctb. My pdoc said that Mirtazepine might be better for SI, but I didn’t want to try it because of the side effects, and my history of getting all the worst side effects. I have never dodged a side effect that hit 10% or more of the test subjects. 😕
