Rules:

1. Four sentences minimum.

2. Romance is fine but nothing overly sexual.

3. Nothing hard drug related.

4. Feel free to draw from experiences we all deal with at SF, but please nothing harmfully graphic or potentially triggering.. (think before you post basically).

5. Must be contiguous to the last post (i.e. no drastically changing scenes or non sequiturs, feel free to change scenes and introduce new characters and places but by the end tie it into the previous post in such a way that allows the next person posting to weave it into the storyline).

He came to the northwest for the fresh air and the energy. People in Los Angeles seemed so stale to him now.. so needlessly preoccupied with phantasms. He could no longer stand to walk through the piss smelt streets with the hookers and jockeys and B celebrities and meth addicts. Everything had the stench of edited failure there.. compromised dreams.. one night stands.. endless hangover..

Seattle was different. There were no flat strip malled streets here full of trinket peddlers, pawn shops, or neon charlatans. There were valleys and hills and fog and mountains. There was the smell of coffee and the people wore flannel and talked quietly, without anxiety. The shops were gritty and genuine. There were terraced parks and boated coves and tribes of kayakers weaving through the heart of the northern stretches that divided Queen Anne from Fremont. A city at once a capital of tech and ingenuity superimposed upon a backwoods logging town somehow without contradiction.

He knew he would feel better here. He knew this was the place to get his head together. To continue with his plans.. under the radar.. out of the fire.. away from them all.

But then something strange happened.. inexplicable.. unnerving.. and genuinely wonderful..

He almost missed her had it not been for her wild vine reminiscent mane of hair. She was at a café, blithely smiling in a teasing manner as her friend leaned in toward her to show her something on her phone. The lass threw her head back in a joyous sponaneous jolt of laughter which overcame her at the sight, proceeded by her playfully nodding her head. He found laughter refreshing, the most candid and unadulterated music his ears had ever had the opportunity to be soothed with. She turned away from her friend and for an instant, locked eyes with him. Her pale blue eyes seemed endless to him. He felt the depths of her soul then, he was sure of it. An untamable, feral beauty with the wit of a raven and the spirit of a lion. She smiled at him then, her pearly spaced teeth glittering in the sunlight as her tresses almost seemed to illuminate her silhouette around a brush of wild flames.

He had to meet her.

“Excuse me sir, you're name is Ethan McKinney, right?”, asked a short young woman with a cheek curtaining brown bob that curled at the edges bracing her small, round face, visored over by a bully pair of black rectangular spectacles.

“Yes, I'm--”

“...Served, I'm afraid”

She abruptly cut in a quick utterance as she swiftly pulled out a manilla envelope from a weighty leather suitcase that made her seem quite diminutive, like a toddler playing around with her mother's accessories.

“What the hell for, what is this all about?!” hollered Ethan as he snapped the envelope from the elfin woman he easily towered over and skimmed through the documents she had bewildered him with delivering.

“It's a suit that has been filed by your sister. Your father has passed away and--”

“The bastard left it all to me? The fuck would he do that? I never spent an accumulated hour with the schmuck!”, Ethan exclaimed, “Now, he's gone ahead and died to leave me this mess. What, he couldn't sort it out himself, dumps this all on me to sort? He never could be bothered.” he grumbled, reinserting the documents in the folder exasperatingly. He then looked up, realizing that precious time had elapsed and that he hadn't approached the gal that had struck him with tremors of life.

She had vanished.

Well, it wouldn't let me edit a few mistakes, so here is the revised version:

He almost missed her had it not been for her wild vine reminiscent mane of hair. The lass threw her head back in a joyous spontaneous jolt of laughter which overcame her at the sight, proceeded by her playfully nodding her head. He found her expression refreshing, the most candid and unadulterated music his ears had ever had the opportunity to be soothed with. She turned away from her friend and for an instant, unexpectedly locking eyes with his; They were pale blue, seemingly endless to him.

He then looked up, realizing that precious time had elapsed and that he hadn't approached the gal that had struck him with tremors of life.

She had vanished.
