The Travel Thread

Well, after years of dragging my feet and making excuses, I finally got a passport. It arrived yesterday, about six weeks earlier than I expected. I guess the US State Department has really ramped things up due to the demand.

So I am happy to finally be able to visit Boquillas, Mexico when I make my next trip to Big Bend NP, which will be in April '24. I am going to stop in Del Rio, TX to watch the total eclipse, then on to the park after that, about a four hour drive..

I am tentatively planning a solo trip to the UK and Ireland either fall of '24 or spring of '25.

Thanks @seabird

This will sound weird, but I am sorry you can relate to some of the stuff in my post-script. My wish is that nobody would ever feel like that, including me. I would not wish this illness on anyone.
No it's not weird sounding. I'm sorry you are ill, and I'm sorry about myself as well. It's with resiignation and yet a sense of not giving up that, for what it's worth, I am still reaching out to people here. I'm in a fair bit of trouble, truth be told. Anyway. I hope you heal, and feel better very soon.

My son and I just returned from a week in Atlanta visiting my siblings (parents long deceased) and nieces/nephews. Also hung out with my two best friends whom I've known since 3rd grade (48 years). He got to reconnect with cousins he hadn't seen in years, and also spent time with my aforementioned friends' kids, which was nice. We went to Six Flags over GA (boy was THAT a trip down memory lane lol) and the GA Aquarium.

Off today and tomorrow which will be a much-needed rest after a busy but fun week. Back to the mines on Tuesday.

Some pics from Atlanta trip..

Tomorrow I am off again to West Texas for the Great American Eclipse '24 and Big Bend NP...hoping the traffic won't be too brutal, but it will be worth it, as this is a once-in-a-lifetime event ..I think it will be one big 🎉 party!
