Good morning or afternoon SF friends. Here's some coffee or tea and gingerbread cookies in honor of National Ginger Bread House Day. It's also National Pointsetta Day and Ding-A-Ling Day. Meant to call up or text an old friend.

Here are some random questions to start the cafe' convo.

1) Did you follow any trends when you were younger? If you are still young, what trends are you into?

2) If you could open a business, with unlimited funds, what would it be?

3) do you like marshmallows and candy canes in your hot chocolate? Do you even LIKE hot chocolate?

If anyone would help tag that'd be great

1) I dressed like Madonna, lace and rubber bracelets up my arms. Then cut my hair real short like the Arythmics. I then married and had home births and had parent led preschool for my children.

2) I'd like a business where I was helping people. Honestly I've grown fond of seniors lately having been taking care recently of my mother. So maybe art therapy. On a larger scale, not sure what.

3. Yes, like it. With marshmallows and candy canes. Yum

1. I'm sure I did but can't remember them offhand. I don't follow trends too much though, I just tend to do things because I enjoy them.

2. Probably a production company if I ever did make films.

3. Yes I do, and both of those sound good, thanks. :)
Production company sounds like fun, hard work and satisfying. I hope you would consider hiring me @Witty_Sarcasm?

Thanks for opening the cafe @Lane...needed distraction from stress so this is a perfect place for that...so to the questions...

1) Did you follow any trends when you were younger? If you are still young, what trends are you into?
Not really too much of a trend follower...but did live through the disco phase as a teenager so remember the designer jeans with spike heeled shoes and sneaking into discos...I dance about as good as Elaine on Seinfeld..despite my best friend and her sister trying to teach me too dance....so wasn't a big hit needless to say...

2) If you could open a business, with unlimited funds, what would it be?
I like you have fondness for seniors with my 105 mother in law and all her friends...so would open a business that had pets and people to do fun home visits...just to spend some quality time with them and to listen to their life stories...

3) do you like marshmallows and candy canes in your hot chocolate? Do you even LIKE hot chocolate?
Love hot chocolate...especially Saunders from Michigan which my husband introduced me to...challenge is being sure have milk in the house that hasn't gone sour...and love tons of marshmallows...admit have never tried candy canes but will be sure to try that with my next cup...

Thanks for the tag @Lane!!

1. I never followed any trends, I was kinda a loner and just did my own thing.

2. I would open a therapeutic riding center for kids with special needs. When I volunteered at one many years ago it was wonderful. I sure miss that place and those kids.

3. I love hot chocolate but it has to have Kahlua (not sure I spelled that right) in it.

Thanks for the tag @Kiwi2016 :)

1) Did you follow any trends when you were younger? If you are still young, what trends are you into?
I was a goth in the 80's - it really pissed my mother off *hysterical

2) If you could open a business, with unlimited funds, what would it be?
I've got two businesses I'd love to open. One would be a community cafe providing somewhere for people to meet. We'd have different activities every day like book groups, board games, craft lessons etc. The cafe would be pet friendly and would also sell products from local artists/crafters.
The second one I'd buy a huge farm and set it up for adolescents with learning disabilities who have left education to come and live for a year in purpose built houses on the farm. They'd be helped to learn how to live independently and also provide educational opportunities in agriculture/horticulture and animal care.

3) do you like marshmallows and candy canes in your hot chocolate? Do you even LIKE hot chocolate?
I LOVE hot chocolate, especially with whipped cream (although I don't like marshmallows). In fact, I had one today :)

Thanks for the tag @Kiwi2016 What a bunch of wonderful ideas here for businesses. @Sunspots , can I come work the farm with you?... that's perfect.
1)We all wore the same things in the 70's....bell bottoms, halter tops, ponchos, clogs, Jesus sandals...is that following a trend? Oh, and everyone watched Star Trek.
2) I wished for years that I had gone to culinary school and opened a restaurant(s) in a few amazing places..I'm not sure what I would do now at this stage of the game, more like find something fun and interesting to do business wise with a couple of other people...maybe a holistic healing center(s).
3) I love homemade hot chocolate.....many mini marshmallows are first choice.. I'll have to try the peppermint addition with some Mexican hot chocolate...that's dinner tonight thanks

@Lane 39 minutes later and here i am to answer the Qs:

1) Did you follow any trends when you were younger? If you are still young, what trends are you into?
well i always like to think of myself as a young trend setter Lane so how can i answer this? i have long hair now and i had long hair when i was (even) younger! but in between there was a hair cutting trend and i guess i did regrettably give in to that! other than that i try to avoid trends. i donโ€™t know why. and that is probably really not exactly accurate anyway.

2) If you could open a business, with unlimited funds, what would it be?
hmm, i donโ€™t want to open a business but more a cause or a service in some way advancing mental healthcare working with people together. i had a more clear idea at the time i joined SF, but i still need to learn how to get outside of myself and reach people. so maybe iโ€™m still working on that idea. i do hope i can make it real especially now that i have more time.

3) do you like marshmallows and candy canes in your hot chocolate? Do you even LIKE hot chocolate?
i love hot chocolate. i suddenly had a craving just the other day and made some and it was quite delish. i think i would not mind either marshmallows or candy canes in it but i also feel that hot chocolate is good on its own. but i still might have them some other time.

1) Did you follow any trends when you were younger? If you are still young, what trends are you into?
No not really I don't think. I dunno if I'm still considered "young" I guess it depends who you ask. People in their 20's seem to think I am "way older" than them lol but w/e I guess I was kinda the same in my 20's but I think I had more tact than to SAY that to any of them at least. Anyway I don't tend to follow trends overall.

2) If you could open a business, with unlimited funds, what would it be?

The best fashion store in the world that had cool, unique styles and were also affordable. It would absolutely put H&M, Old Navy and Topshop to shame.

3) do you like marshmallows and candy canes in your hot chocolate? Do you even LIKE hot chocolate?

No I don't even like hot chocolate. I pretended to like it for a long time cos it always seems to surprise people when I say I don't like it which I find kind of annoying but anyway I really have never liked it very much cos I just find it way too rich & even just drinking one cup of it usually makes me feel nauseous before long. Def. don't like anything in it when I've had it though, only time I'm fine w/ marshmallows is when they are in rice crispy squares which I can't eat anymore.

Oops omg ss meant to say tysm for the tags @Lane & @Kiwi2016 don't think there's any point in me tagging people no one ever seems to say anything about it when I do so guess they either don't care or maybe don't see them I dunno. Most of the regulars have already been tagged anyway so w/e.

Sorry to be joining in so late, but i appreciate Lane's invite, and i like these questions.

1) Did you follow any trends when you were younger? If you are still young, what trends are you into?

2) If you could open a business, with unlimited funds, what would it be?

3) do you like marshmallows and candy canes in your hot chocolate? Do you even LIKE hot chocolate?
1) Well, given that most modern trends are the really daft ones, (like planking, or the "set yourself on fire challenge" (yes that was a real challenge, and it's as dumb as it sounds)), or just ones that become so saturated that people end up cringing at them 2 months later, (like the Harlem Shake, or Gangnam Style dancing), i tend to avoid trends unless they've lasted or are just especially funny (like Supa Hot Fire references, or Big Shaq references when that was a new thing).

2) Probably one of two nonprofits. Either it would be for rehabilitating my fellow Autistic people and providing them with careers, or it would be this idea i had for a company which recruits homeless people and trains them into jobs building homes in areas affected by wars or natural disasters. Admittedly that second one has some flaws. Alternatively i'd just make an indie game development company if i was being less philosophical about it. ;)

3) I think hot chocolate is one of the greatest beverages created by man and an argument for the worth of the entire species. I've never been a big fan of marshmallows though, i don't get what people see in them, so i wouldn't sully my hot chocolate with them personally. Never heard of having candy canes in hot chocolate before though, that actually sounds kinda tasty, i'll have to try it. *yes

Agree with you about the horse therapy camp as when taking classes I was able to volunteer at one and hope to be able to get back to it after the 1st of the year....simply nothing like that...
