I had this thought that these mental illnesses is almost like a person that overtakes you. When I was in 8th grade to all years in high school, i went through an eating disorder. Looking back now, I don’t recognize myself then, how obsessed I was with eating less and exercising to the extreme. It was hard to like break out of the person. I am so thankful that my mom yelled at me to eat before going anywhere. It was like she had snapped that person out of her and I became myself again. Now, that I am going through depression and bad thoughts sometimes I don’t recognize myself during those weeks. It’s like a person overtakes me and is this depressed and unmotivated person. Then the next week happens I get back into my routine and get back to my life. It’s kind of like shredding the skin of that person who overtakes me and I was strong enough to leave her behind before she made me do worse things or let it go on for so long. It’s hard sometimes when you miss the part of feeling sick and depressed and you want to go back to that sometimes. Healing hurts sometimes.
