i was abusing DXM (dextromethorphan) recreationally for a year and unprescribed pregabalin for a few months prior. i stopped pregablin cold turkey, then had huge amounts of the cough medicine (not 1-2 bottles per week but like 2-4 per day) during the withdrawals and then eventually the DXM and the pregabalin combined. i had the worst panic attack ever i was seriously convinced i was dying there was nothing like it. all the hospital could do was give me intravenous electrolytes, it took hours and hours to calm down and even then i noticed the top of my head felt weird since. i felt like it had been turned into a rock or bone or stone. as of august 2026 it has either stayed the same or gradually improved but not gone away, despite sobriety and intermittent fasting. I also notice that i cant physically cry, i feel a bit of emotional bluntness, and numbers/words/letters/concepts etc have this "mechanical" feeling to them and i cant stay askeep for more than 1-6 hours at a time

I'm sorry that this happened to you.

You were using DXM and pregabalin for a year, but how much time has passed between the last time you used these drugs and now?

Do you mostly want to tell the story of what happened, or do you want particular kinds of replies (e.g., empathy, advice, etc.)?
