Only have to weigh food for a minute, right? Then you get to know what a serving of this is. Like I "know" that 6 thin slices of the turkey that I eat is an ounce and that is going to be 80 calories and 9 grams of protein. I "know" that xx amount of strawberries is what a serving looks like when I drop them in a baggie and that it's 40 calories. So once you start it then you don't have to keep track as much because that is difficult for "real world" living right?
Starting tomorrow I am going to try this, you make it sound nice and easy which is great lol I really do admire your motivation and discipline. Discipline I think is the hardest part. Hats off to you sir :)

Guys have it easier when it comes to swimming, i mean that clothes wise - you do the math, matt, bwahaha :)

Well lets consider who I am here for a minute................................... think about it..........................................
So I'm swimming in a lot of clothes -- MUCH more than you, in fact.

Hahaha. Fair point. I would not get into a bikini swimsuit if you offered me a million 😂

Thanks Lu, I understand,ok that show sounds absolutely ridiculous - a show for high viewer ratings i'm guessing. Wow, 90 minutes at a time, that is truly awesome, he must be extremely motivated. I hope he reaches the 40lbs down by the time he visits you. Wow @ bluetooth headphones - matt, you are going to put us all to shame *bleh

No slacking off Matt, Lu has you for life so don't take it for granted ;)

Have you ever looked up your TDEE? https://tdeecalculator.net/ Apparently a lot of people go by what that tells you and is very healthy.

I read reddit.com/r/loseit/ every single day to try and motivate myself, i think i have lost a little weight, i get weighed within the next 2 weeks, i shall let ye know how it goes :)
I think that the TDEE is a variation of things I have tried but I have learned that it is for an 'average' person. I have an underactive thyroid so my basal metabolic rate is slower. I would LOVE to be able to eat the 2066 calories a day that calculator says I can eat and 'maintain' but there is no way that would happen. There is a place in the city over the way where you can go and get it really scientifically tested to see how many calories you are actually burning. I might do that one day so I know what the maintenance thing REALLY is.

Oh, I never considered that Lu. I hope you go and get yours tested, why not? :) Also the only way you can really tell how much muscle mass you have is through a DEXA scan (scan to check for arthritis, osteoporosis), if i remember that correctly.

The calculator says I can eat 2580 but somehow i think that is really high or i'm in denial about my weight. Its frustrating, the new year is going to be a new start, i know i have said that before but this time i mean it.

Can I ask a personal question to both of you, do ye have to wear extenders on planes?

I could answer that for you - and I know why you're asking - but....
The thing about this is that airline seatbelts fray at the ends and then they cut them so they're now shorter than they were before. So _this seat_ is shorter than the seat next to you. So while you need an extender on the trip to a place you may not need one on the way back.
Also each airline is starting with a different length of belt so that also is a factor.

All that being said, I have only needed an extender once and didn't know it until I was already sitting there and then acted like a tool by not asking for one. If you need one (or even think you will) its much easier to ask as youre boarding the plane. It's an every day thing for them and they're right there ready to hand out.

I have had to wear extenders. The last time I got on a plane (August 2018) I requested an extender as soon as I got on because I knew I'd need one and they have them right by the door so somehow it seemed like less fuss than waiting for the staff to come down the plane etc. They just handed me one as I walked past and everyone is so busy getting on and sorting themselves out that it felt a lot less obtrusive. They have a pile of those things for a reason - its not because nobody is using them. I am getting on a plane Dec 30th and I will be asking for an extender then too - I think the tiny city hopper planes have shorter belts and I'd rather have one and be comfortable frankly.

P.S. Waterproof bluetooth headphones were like $100-$400 online. I could NOT decide on anything. I finally just closed my eyes and threw a dart, so to speak, picked a pair off amazon that were $35 and they are perfectly great. I swim while my phone is off on the side and I can skip sings and such during the stream from the headset. I don't submerge them but supposedly they're okay for that too.
Send me a link?

Man. I lost almost 50 lbs in about 2 years a bit ago, but have gained nearly 20 of it back. The *only* way I lose is if I count calories and do the whole weighing thing. I'm awful at portion control otherwise. I've been avoiding it because I'm exhausted just thinking about it, but I can feel the most recent 5 lbs pretty clearly when I try to run now. Maybe if I can keep my MH in check for the next few busy weeks I'll commit to that again.

Wow, 35 pounds in only 2 months is beyond impressive. It took me like a year and a half to lose that much. lol
