I'm English, I was born in Hinchingbrooke Hospital, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire.

My parents are English, my mother was born in Kent and my father was born in Slough, London. I don't know much about when or where my grandparents were born but my mother's father was born in Queenborough, Kent in 1937 and his father was born in Faversham, Kent in 1870's, he had 3 brothers and was previously married. My mother's father did write a book about his past and he was in the RAF, based in Kent and Singapore etc.... yet I have a full Scottish name, my ancestry is English, Scottish, Welsh, Irish, French, German and some others.

My ancestors had alot of spare time. :unsure:

I have a few famous ancestors on my father's mother's side of the family too -

George Doonan - Comedian - My great-great Uncle, I think.

He had two sons:

Patric Doonan - Actor - My great uncle, sadly deceased... He comitted suicide.

Tony Doonan - Actor - My great uncle, still alive, he broke his leg many years ago though and kept walking on it... as a result he can't walk very well at all anymore. He resides in an old people's home in London, I think... I went to visit him once.

I'm sorry if any of this is triggering. :unsure:

if we're talking about famous family...

Anybody ever heard of Jan Akkerman? He was the lead guitar of a band called Focus, he's supposed to be pretty famous and he's a cousin of my dad (no clue what that is to me)

I personally never heard him play, but he's supposed to be pretty good and the band is also supposed to have a few 'world hits' according to my dad... I do happen to know he's mentioned on wikipedia btw

on my own, if Jan Akkerman is your dad's cousin, then he is your first cousin once removed (one generation).

I understand he plays guitar really well.

I was born in the US but my ancestors come from Europe.
My mother's father was born in Elbing, Germany which is now in Poland.
His mother was Polish and his father was German. I have relatives in Munich that I have visited.
My mother's mother was born in Bechlin, Bohemia which is now the Czech Republic. I still have relatives there that I have not met.
My father's great grandfather was born in Germany, somewhere, but his name is Polish. His wife was German. I have relatives from that family all over the US, Canada and Brazil.
Does that make me a world citizen?

"English?"
"No, Welsh"

"In the UK"
"So, you're English?"
"No! Welsh"

Ha..

So anyway, yes I'm Welsh. :)

Me too :smile: both sides, a long way back. Living in England though, which makes that kind of conversation all the more frustrating!! :tongue:
