Anniversary date

In a rare (for the last few years) occurrence, I had a nightmare, to wake up feeling nauseous and in pain all day. It's not the flu, it's the date I lost a parent. I was reminded of that, by my other parent mentioning it. The whole family went somewhere we used to go when I was a kid. I'm about 12 hours away, so I couldn't go.

Then I had a fight with someone, and cut them out of my life. Not a huge loss, we've only talked a few times. Girlfriend of my friend type deal. But that really pissed me off, while already being a mess. Plus long day at work.

It's the same every year. The pain comes back, like it had just happened. I was with them, from removing support, up until death. I'm glad I got to see them off. They were there for me, whenever I asked. So it felt fitting. I can't unsee that process. But I don't regret staying.

If you're going through loss/ certain days. It's okay to be hurt, it's okay to talk it out, it will always hurt sometimes. But try to keep going. As I kept going for them, you can too. That's all I can say, it's not fair, it hurts, and it takes a part of you. But, you're not alone. I'm going to go cry now.

Just wanted to add, both my parents doted on me, and never gave up on trying to make me happy. I miss the lost one, but the other one talked to me and cheered me up.

Thank you very much KM....the time passage seems like the blink of an eye*hug
That is most true. Coincidence, my mom was born August 13, 1938 and died February 13, 2014, she lived exactly 75 years and 6 months. Cancer got her like most of my family and typically not exactly very old. Her dad died at 70 and her mom at 80.

That is interesting about her timing of her passing. My father's birthday was August 17, 1926. And 75 is no longer "really old" for many. I've taken care of many patients over the years and been with many people taking their last breath from young to old, there's no rhyme or reason to the timing for so many people. I hope your mother suffered very little if at all from pain for however long she was ill.*hug

Mom got where her cataracts were stopping her from driving back in 2013 and when she went through the pre-op tests things were wonky and they discovered tumor(s) affecting liver, gall bladder and pancreas that were not there 6 months before and she was given the get your affairs in order. She did well right up until February and downhill within a week. The hospice nurse said she did not seem to be in pain, it was like going to sleep for 4 days before giving up. The family believes it was she didn't want to leave her only grandchild who he turned 13 shortly before she was diagnosed. Very peaceful and seeming to be in no pain, and thank you for your comment, much appreciated. *hug

In terms of interesting numbers, my parents were born 3 years and 3 days apart and almost died 3 months apart. That always stood out to me.
