Been going to the gym a lot to improve my mental health but its hard when you are not welcomed or accepted by the members there

I don't, but I imagine it would be hard. It's hard but I guess you have to try to gradually adopt a "f*ck them" attitude and focus on yourself and your goals there. Also, remind yourself it probably isn't personal, they're probably just "in the zone" focusing their energy on their fitness routine rather than chatting to people etc

I go to a gym where everyone is very nice, but no one really talks to me. They say good morning and that's it, and then when we're between sets in class (it's a CrossFit gym) everyone is chatting and I'm usually just standing there. I get it. It's not fun.

Could you try going at a different time? When I went to a commercial gym, I went at 5:45 in the morning and would workout until about 7. There weren't too many regulars, but those who got up that early were usually too tired or too focused to care about I was doing. Late at night can be like that too.

Sorry about this. It's hard, but don't give up on exercise, because it is good for your mental health!

Would you be at all willing to elaborate on that? Do you feel they are trying in any way to "run you out" of the gym? Are they acting snide or condescending towards you in any way? Or do you simply feel as though you're a perpetual outsider there?

@iloverachel it's great you go to the gym; your fitness must be really good. When I can afford it again I'll be signing up to a gym. If you lived in the same town I'd go with you. I don't talk much if at all while working out. :)
