Exactly that. I've never been a short term relationship person in any way but I've heard they can be helpful during the worst times in life.
What are your opinions? Are one night stands more helpful or hurtful?
Particularly for getting over a bad relationship, but not exclusively. (Let me know if this belongs on a different forum.)

It depends on your personality and whether anyone will get hurt in doing so.

I've had a few in the past and they were great. Uninhibited as I knew I wouldn't be seeing him again, exciting, thrilling and romantic. But you must stay safe or your regrets could last a lifetime.

Now I'm married I just dream about them. I have considered it and came very close a couple of months ago. In fact I was in my car, half way to his house when I thought "F**k, what am I doing???" turned my car around and drove home. The feeling of guilt is hideous.

Proceed with caution...

Totally depends on your personality and views regarding sex. If you think you could get hurt in the process (meaning: you're going to get attached to this person) then skip it for sure. But if you think you could go into with the idea that there's only one point to it, it's all for fun, you're going to be safe, etc then you could consider it. but the fact is, nothing is going to get you over someone quicker than "time". Sorry.

You don't termed 1 night stand as a short term relationship. You don't have a relationship with the person. Even if the person is your friend. No expectations and guilt, if you go in this path. Would it be hurtful or helpful? It totally depends on you. But, if you think that it will help you get over someone. No!... but, if it's just for sex. Then, go ahead. Always stay safe!
