A man, held captive for no apparent reason for years, is given a cell phone, money and expensive clothes and released. Unless he finds out the identity of his captor, an even worse fate awaits him.

This film was awesome, it held nothing back and has one of the all-time great fight-scenes taken side on, 1 vs a gang in 1 take. He was an ordinary (if useless and a bit shit) person before he was taken and locked up for 15 years in a single room, but he trained himself whilst in there and he will have his revenge. I will say this though, even though I love this film, I only ever watched it once, the ending is just so savage that I'm not sure I can watch it again. This is a masterpiece of a film that you HAVE to watch exactly once.

Idiocracy - (2006)
Film

Joe is the definition of average, so much so that he is generally ignored at the army base until he is volunteered to be part of a Top Secret hibernation experiment, he wakes up 500 years in the future to find that society has devolved and he is now by far the smartest man alive.

This film is a little ridiculous and was generally overlooked until (intentional or otherwise) American culture began drawing enough parallels that it is now a meme to put up the words "It was meant to be a comedy, NOT a tutorial" on the picture above. Its kinda fun, frustrating and in some way, the culture of this world is STILL better than the one we have now. Worth a watch.

Emilio Estevez plays a young punk rock enthusiast that recruited by a car repossession agency and gets caught up in the pursuit of a Cheverolet Malibu involving extraterrestrials.

This is an entertaining movie throughout. My favorite part is the line he says to his girlfriend before he gets into the car at the end.

Repo Man is fantastic. Been ages since I last saw it. I love "punk Emilio." Do you remember the Bishop of Battle segment in the early 1980s anthology movie Nightmares?

In the mid-21st century, an epidemic of organ failures leads to the rise of GeneCo., a company providing transplants at a great price. Those who miss their payments become targets of GeneCo.'s pet mercenary, the dreaded "Repo Man", who repossess the organs. In this world of drug addiction and legalized murder, a sheltered youth (Alexa Vega) seeks a cure for her rare disease as well as information about her family's mysterious history. Her questions will be answered at "The Genetic Opera."

This is awesome, Anthony Head at his finest! Its a little strange in places, kinda Gothic, and is a musical (which only makes it better) and a PERFECT film to watch at Halloween, if a little graphic. It shares the same source material and base concept as Repo Men (2010) but this came first and is by far superior.

A Boy and His Dog (1975)

This film is about a boy and his dog surviving a post-apocalyptic world. The boy and dog can talk to each other. Women are rare in this world, and the dog tries to sniff out a mate for the boy. The boy and dog discover a society living underground.

This film received bad reviews when it was first released and gained a cult following over the years. When you finish watching the movie, you won't believe what you just watched. You're going to want to tell your friend the whole plot to the movie. But I'm not going to ruin it. According to the developer of the Fallout video game series, A Boy and His Dog was an inspiration on the series.

When a research vessel containing scientist Kate McCrae discovers the previously missing USS Cygnus, captained by Kate's father, near a black hole, they decide to find out the mystery behind it.

To be honest I watched this when I was quite young, so I didn't really understand it, but it is generally accepted as a classic and its been on my rewatch list for a while.

From killer balloons to philosophising bombs, this is just kinda nuts, but an absolute classic.

Gremlins - (1984)
Film

Randall Peltzer, a struggling inventor, visits a Chinatown antique store in the hope of finding a unique Christmas present for his son Billy. In the store, Randall encounters a small, furry creature called a mogwai. The owner, Mr. Wing, refuses to sell the creature to Randall. However, his grandson isn't so cautious and secretly sells the mogwai to Randall, warning him to remember three important rules that must never be broken:
1) Do not expose the mogwai to light, especially sunlight, which will kill it
2) Do not let it come in contact with water
3) Never feed it after midnight.
It isn't long until Billy, his family, an beyond, find out the consequences of not following these rules.

This is one of the first dark comedies I ever watched, it was bloody hilarious and there is NO doubt that Gremlins is a certified cult classic. (Plus there are some sequels, but as we all know, sequels rarely live up to the original).

Freaks and Geeks(1999), another one season TV series.

You have both the freaks and geeks group represented from high school in the early 1980s which is nostalgic for me since that the time period that I was in high school. One of the things I like best is the excellent soundtrack and all the cultural references from the series which I can easily and at times fondly remember from way back. The shock is seeing some of the stars of the show in the series and how young they were and looked and now thinking that person is now in their 40s.

I do have to laugh at some of the things that both of the sections get into at times that were some of what myself and a few of the people I hung out with at school would do. I was part freak and part geek in my behavior.

I loved Freaks and Geeks. The thing I loved about the show was that it felt realistic. Most teen shows are farfetched and unrealistic. But the characters in this show felt like people I could imagine myself meeting and being friends with. And the situations felt like situations I could see myself being in. It's a shame it only lasted one season.

Jaye Tyler is a recent college graduate working a dead-end job at a gift shop at Niagara Falls. She soon learns she has the ability to talk to inanimate animals.

Only three episodes aired, but thankfully you can get the whole season on DVD. Like Firefly, it fell to the Friday Night on Fox Curse. It's a real shame because the characters were so easy to fall in love with.

I remember Wonderfalls. That was one of those where you ask what the hell and can I have what she is on? But in a fun way.

Perhaps the greatest of the cult TV shows always fits in and I doubt anybody will need a description with all the years of syndication...

Not only is there the crew you normally think of from the regulars but also...Eddie Paskey! 60 appearances, more than Chekhov or Sulu and typically cast as Lt. Leslie, worked in engineering, bridge personnel, transporter operator and security once killed as a redshirt but McCoy(He's dead Jim) was able to revive him.

Little Shop of Horrors- (1984)

Seymour Krelborn works a small job in a small Florist and likes to collect strange plants, but one strange plant he purchased that miraculously appears from nowhere on a street vendors table stands to change all that and catapult him to fame and fortune, and even gain the attention of the woman he longs for, but with the plants very particular nutritional requirements, perhaps Seymour is in over his head.

This dark comedy musical is bloody brilliant and works for any age. There are just too many great characters, moments and quotes in this film to not give it a watch. Classic among classics.

The Princess Bride - (1987)
Film

A fairy tale adventure about a beautiful young woman and her one true love. He must find her after a long separation and save her. They must battle the evils of the mythical kingdom of Florin to be reunited with each other. Based on the William Goldman novel "The Princess Bride" which earned its own loyal audience.

I cant tell you enough how this isnt just another boring fairytale or romance, the characters are amazing, the story is great, the whit, the fighting, the acting. ALL amazing! Its one of those about an old grandpa reading this story to a sick kid so opens as such, and in his words: its got "Fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, true love, miracles!" It is just an amazing film, cant recommend it enough. I dont care if you dont like fairy tales, neither do I usually, but this is a serious exception, its just that good.

It's a true crime series that's shown in reruns just about every night. The original is classic and the reboot seems to lack something, possibly the original narrator, who really made the show what it was. Not much to say other than I find it really interesting. Each episode showcases a different crime and everything that leads up to them solving it.
