My first early brain as an infant and child was put together entirely by Catholics. I'm talking real, Victorian, Spanish Catholics. Not generic latter-day cultural Catholics like me and you. Hence my desire to be a priest until puberty arrived and Modernity impinged on my consciousness.

Are we digressing? (scrolls up) Yep! If we're going to continue, let's go to the faith area. I hear they have comfy seats and good air conditioning over there.
that's funny I was an alter boy and I was going to be a priest, until I discovered girls, yea a lifetime of no sex is a commitment I just couldn't make *hysterical

I was an altar boy too, briefly. I realized immediately that there was no fun involved, and I was out of there quickly.

Yep. Celibacy for priests was the biggest mistake the Catholic Church ever made. And instead of getting rid of it, they've been doubling down on it every century*dunno

Hi all,
I was just thinking how it would help me to know if there where others here who lost a loved one on suicide.
I will start, I lost my mother and a dear friend on suicide.
Love FW ❤️
I'm sorry @Foreignwoman. It must be very hard to loose your mother this way. My mother expressed wanting to give up sometimes. I feel that there is more to the story. I'll read others and share. At orthodontist with daughter then travelling. *hug

it is difficult to lose someone by suicide. you never get the clear picture of why. and on the outside looking in almost all cases could have been better if they could've just held on. I'm sorry you had to go through that much pain. mike *hug

I know that when people commit suicide, loved ones can feel anger towards them. I didn’t feel angry towards any of the people I lost. My cousin found fame when he was fairly young then fell out the limelight. He found that difficult and was plagued by a lot of demons. My friends I both met in hospital who succumbed to their illness. I feel great sadness but I’m not mad and I understand their reasons for their decisions. I do however still wish that they were here though.

My father committed suicide when I was 21. He was spiralling downwards and my mother was scared that her life was in danger and we were being stalked by him. Looking back, it was a sad situation even though we were relieved.

My grandfather killed himself and sister has attempted a few times. I only have some memory of my Abuelo as a nice older gentleman.

Thank you, I'm thinking that i may have given too much detail and its triggering to members. I hope not.

This thread has gotten me thinking about prevention and how it should be touched on in schools, to recognize the warning signs among friends. It hurts me when I hear about a young person taking his/her own life, anyone but a youngster because i think of my own children.
