Great Film Quotes

"Now look!...... I once stood exposed to the dragon's breath so a man could lie one night with a woman. It took me nine moons to recover....And all for this lunacy called love, this mad distemper that strikes down both beggar and king!

"Never again......Never!"

- Merlin (to young King Arthur re: Guinevere), Excalibur (1981)

Nicol Williamson is brilliant in this role and just steals the movie ...

My favorite quote from Merlin:

"I have walked my way since the beginning of time. Sometimes I give, sometimes I take, it is mine to know which and when!".

"People must know that they're going to die, and yet they live as though they never will. Hilarious.". Park Chang-Yi from the Korean film The Good, The Bad, The Weird.

"Why love if losing hurts so much?

"I have no answers anymore, only the life I've lived.

"Twice in that life, I've been given the choice. As a boy, and as a man. The boy chose safety. The man chooses suffering. The pain now is part of the happiness then..

"That's the deal."

- C.S. "Jack" Lewis, Shadowlands (1993)
There's a new movie that just came out last year about CS Lewis and Freud called Freud's Last Session. The great irony is that Anthony Hopkins plays Freud in this movie. But he played CS Lewis in Shadowlands.

"How do you pick up the threads of an old life?

"How do you go on...when in your heart, you begin to understand...there is no going back?

"There are some things that time cannot mend...some hurts that go too deep...that have taken hold..."

- Frodo Baggins, LOTR: The Return of the King (2003)

This really resonates....Battling moderate to severe depression is something of a quest in itself, with no clear outcome, aside from internal scars that never heal. Like traveling through Mordor and scaling Mt. Doom on a regular basis..
