I hope you feel a bit better soon.
thanks. I got some things done - clouds rolled in and dropped the temp by 10 degrees. So that was instant lift. I went outside just now at dusk and saw a bit of sunset colors in the clouds. I also walked to a nearby restaurant and picked up my favorite appetizer among any restaurant I frequent - the chicken karaage. It's basically a Japanese take on chicken nuggets - they chop dark chicken meat into bite-sized pieces, bread them in seasoned something or other, fry em up, and serve with spicy mayo sauce. Heaven. What makes them good is the way they are prepared. Cooked to order, in fresh oil (as opposed to the recycled, stale-ass grease at a fast food chain), and the chicken they use is from a local farm that just tastes better than what I normally pick up at the grocery store. I think the farm in question uses more sustainable and less cruel farming practices. Dunno if it would necessarily make the chicken taste better, but at least it's not those garishly huge chicken breasts that speak to some extreme selective breeding.

Feeling conflicted about whether I should have pursued EMDR and how helpful it actually is. I'm on the fence. Also debating whether or not to continue.
For what its worth, I did a type of EMDR and found it spectacularly unhelpful.

I think the success of EMDR is highly dependent on the individual and the trauma the individual went through. *dunno

I did two sessions some years ago. It was incredibly bizarre and most definitely useless for me. But it may indeed depend on who and what the target is.

Excited about beginning my trip tomorrow. I don't have pain in my leg except at night when I go to sleep which is really annoying. So I have ibuprofen packed. I'll still check in on SF when I can. What a difference from 6 months ago when both the hip and leg were on fire with pain.
Have a great time @cymbele. Glad your leg is feeling better too. Where are you off to? Please answer only if comfortable.

Because my social circle isn't big at all, I have no plans for the weekend. I did invite myself over to a friend's for a quick visit to meet her new kittens, but other than that I'll be home alone. My kids are busy with their boyfriends and girlfriends and going away. It feels better even if they're just home. I have issues being alone. So im afraid anxiety will come into play.

I got about 9-10 hrs of sleep last night, so maybe that is stabilizing. I know that when I'm at my best I'm getting around 9 hrs a night. I wonder if my voracious reading habit means that I have more to process at night, hence need more sleep. I'm less foggy than I was yesterday morning. Emotions are very negative. Feeling like a total failure and why even try to get a job when the entire economy is f**ked?

Rationally, though, I can see that I don't need to fear rejection by applying for jobs. What are they going to do? Not hire me? How does that make me any worse off than I am right now? Alternatively, if I apply then I have a greater than zero chance. Unless applying for a job is worse than not having a job, then the risk is entirely upside (meaning some chance of gain with no chance of loss). More importantly, I think that shipping an app or two would break me out of my paralysis. The paralysis is there, though, so it's a lot of work to get past this barrier. I think it will be worth it though. This is just me trying to talk myself into doing what adult me needs to get done.

I hope adult me wins and gets things done today. Adulting is hard when we have so many issues. Best wishes!
