How Are You Feeling Right Now?

self-diagnosis is notoriously unreliable. I have self-ruled out a lot of things that I was later diagnosed with. There's also plenty of data that says we humans deceive ourselves very easily without intending to, nor recognizing that, we've done so.

Diagnosing oneself with a neurodivergent condition rather than discussing one's symptoms with a licensed clinician also heaps stigma on those who (like me) were dragged kicking and screaming into accepting that I had ADHD and later OCD. What happens is that when "everyone" claims to have ADHD then the people who really do need accommodation to run their everyday life face a steeper climb trying to attain it. It perpetuates the false assumption among neurotypical and formally diagnosed individuals that ADHD is just an excuse for being lazy and not getting your shit together.

There's also the problem of when people get a false positive in their DIY clinic, it confuses people who legitimately are affected. ADHD is a brain style, and I know when i'm talking to someone else who has it vs someone who doesn't. If someone thinks and declares that they have ADHD, but in fact are neurotypical in that trait, then I end up expecting empathy and understanding from someone who really does not understand. If it sounds like I'm bitter, that's because I am. *huh

I am not saying whether anyone you know definitely does or does not have ADHD, but if they just looked at a list of symptoms and said, yup - that's me... then that should be the start of a conversation with a provider, not the conclusion.

Sorry, raw nerve. *hiding In short, if they really have ADHD they need to be seeking treatment before expecting people around them to change behavior to accommodate them.
Thank you so much for your insight @LumberJack. Im going to tell her to see a professional to get diagnosed. I see a young lady with a passion for life, trying different things out. We shall see I guess.

Feeling relief as I have 2 days off from work. Im packed for my weekend to the Poconos where there's a big lake for swimming and a boat ride. It makes me feel better to have plans so I dont dwell in thought. This morning I go for a blood test. I went to the doctor for a physical for the first time in years. She also sent me for a mammogram and bone density test.

So now I have 3 different diagnoses from 3 different professionals, and 2 have a smidgen of convergence, but when one expert says it's a locked hip, and another person says its a locked back, and discount the strong evidence for certain muscle involvements, it starts to look like a puzzle that nobody can solve. New physio gave me a amateur printout and said stop doing the exercises if it hurts. Didn't provide proper instructions, did first one by looking on Youtube and it hurt....

At least I pushed and pushed at the doctors and have now been referred down the NHS MSK pathway and prescribed proper nerve calming medication. So my amitriptyline taper is likely over and I will have to go back onto full doses, but at least I will be free of the fear of being hospitalised and going into enforced withdrawal because it's not on my official record. I honestly don't care if I have to be on it for life, if it brings my sleep back and doesn't cause me any problems. Also got the codeine on repeat, which will be helpful just for those times when it is pretty bad.

Not a win, but at least it's something and things are finally moving, I talked to a nice doctor who was very clear and thanked me for all the detail I put on the triage form. It looks like they finally started paying attention.

My comrade in pain.
Or in my case I got a chiropractic nudge on Tuesday, had a miserable night, and yesterday a pain free day until bedtime. I asked for the Naproxen for the bucket list trip to Alaska coming up in two weeks and was treated as a pill seeking addict. Definitely not a degenerative hip as the first guy said as it would be constant pain and getting worse in the past 6 months. Today I can tell is going to be a rough day.

But I'm glad you are getting relief.

I'm feeling all sorts of things.

I've been fighting a fungal infection in my mouth for working on a month now. I've had all the treatment that my primary plus two ER docs have recommended. (Nystatin and Diflucan). I had an appointment with my primary today which was changed to a telehealth due to the office being closed as their AC wasn't working (deadly in Texas heat). She just prescribed more Diflucan (which I've had 14 days of anyway) and referred me to my dentist.

So I have called dentist and made an appointment for tomorrow morning at 8 am. But the last in person with primary she didn't even so much as LOOK at my mouth.

I feel my primary doctor isn't listening or caring. This is not a good feeling to have. Maybe I need a new primary doc. I did look at the available docs on my insurance and there are several in town. But, damn, its a hassle to change primary docs on my insurance (HMO).

I did visit my psychiatrist on Tuesday to restart meds. I have had to accept that I will be on psych meds for the rest of my life. The only nasty surprise was that he is not accepting my insurance and it was a $150 self pay. I did restart Abilify and feel much better, my appetite is back and my head is much clearer.

I'm not sleeping. I get 1 1/2 to 2 hours and I am awake. Part of it is the problem with my mouth (I'd go into details but its gross). Last night I got about 3 hours sleep. Tonight doesn't look to be any better.

Sorry to ramble, just feel alone tonight and wanted to talk.
