How Are You Feeling Right Now?

I’m feeling a little better following a half hour sitting on a cushion, traveling through space and time in my head, and remembering to breathe, right here and right now, when I get carried away like that.

This morning was more difficult than usual and I wanted the pain to stop. Returning to feeling my body is making it a little less bad. Also thinking of other people (who I appreciate) instead of myself. I was poking around family posts on fb and wrote something about how much I love them, and that’s when I noticed I was feeling better. :)

Uncomfortable. Can't find a comfortable position at all except lying down, and can't do anything really lying down. Only so much walking around the house I can do. Every position annoys a different body area.

The GP physio just wanted to check things. Agree this isn't arthritis so at least there is consensus, and GP is accepting physio diagnosis of chronic pelvic pain/pudendal neuralgia 🥹

I have 2 MRIs scheduled for next week to find the source of my pain yet in the last visit the chiropractor cracked the last bit of pain out of me. it's been three days of mostly pain free living. I feel like I don't need the MRIs but I'm afraid of canceling them and the doctor getting pissed. I already have one doctor's office annoyed with me for seeking a second opinion I don't need two.

Also I am annoyed that I dealt with pain for so long based on the first doctor's assessment and at myself for accepting their diagnosis. This has turned into a petty complaint but overall I am happy to be mostly pain free.

Sorry you are going through this but glad the pain was cracked out of you (lol, I think!). Yes, you'd think we could see a doctor and get an accurate diagnosis, but it doesn't always happen. If I hadn't challenged my GPs diagnosis I would be in a very hard position right now - waiting months for an x ray that would simply rule out one thing and not take me anywhere closer to a proper diagnosis. I hear people with my condition can go round the system for years before getting the diagnosis I had, which I only got because I suspected what it was and found a specialist myself.

Will it cost you to have the MRIs or is it covered? It might be worth having them. I expect my case is very different but my body has been very good at gaslighting me - I can have a couple of pain free days then it all comes crashing back. Or like the other day, I was in absolute agony, unable to sleep, and pushed for all the support I could get. Shortly after that the pain all vanished for a day or so - embarrassing when I was called in by the MSK team and had to say sorry, my pain as gone from 8 or 9/10 to about 2/10.... Of course it came back later. At least I know in my case it is likely nerves based which explains the messiness of it.

An MRI might be useful just to reassure you that there's nothing there, maybe? But try not to worry about pissing doctors off if you decide to cancel😊

I'm glad you are pain free. I am also worried that you feel like it's okay for a doctor's office to get mad at you, especially over seeking a second opinion. If they are not encouraging you to get a second opinion, they are not a good practice. You are free to cancel according to their policies; usually if it's within 24-72 hrs before the appt no issues, but inside whatever their limit is they can charge a no-show fee. Aside from that though:

It is not your job to make them happy! It is their job to make you happy!

Your responsibility is to show up, arrange payment, and discuss the symptoms openly, then follow any instructions for afterward. Their responsibility is to give you a competent diagnosis and treatment plan. If they are trying to push you around emotionally, you are not safe at all! If they are expressing dissatisfaction with your choice to seek confirmation of a diagnosis, that is an attempt at pushing you around.

I'm really intense about this because my previous attitude that I have to satisfy providers with my behavior, as if I was a misbehaving school child about to get punished, led to the greatest mistake of my lifetime. If that suffering can help someone else, it would help me very much. /rant *rant
