I was turned on to Debussy in the 70s by a Japanese musician named Tometa (if memory serves me) who played this and other pieces on a synthesizer. I went out and bought the album right away. I was brought up in a classical music family but not yet at that point that much into classical. the Tometa stuff was cute but as my parents pointed out it really lost the true flavor of the Debussy on piano. I bought an album and realized that this instance was one of the few where my parents were right. that actually opened the door to classical for me. personally I believe that much of Debussy's work touches heaven and I'm not even sure heaven exists. I'm a piano purist now. this piece and a few others are my all time favorites in the "amazed by the music on this planet" category. 😊😊😊. though I started this thread with the Hu (yuve yuve yu) this thread would not even be here if it wasn't for Claude Debussy!!! so happy you posted it - and particularly today when something nice was really needed.

I am a big fan of Classical Music, it is an open your ears and listen to something that may be beautiful. I claim that Toccata and Fugue in D minor by Johan Sebastian Back would make a fine theme song for me. :)

i grew up with the nutcracker. ironically it was sadly intermingled with the sexual misdeeds of the adult males in my family. yet violin itself was intermingled. still i love violin music and the nutcracker. the beauty rises way way above the wrongs done and they were so wrong - to my female family members, and i just don’t know if to myself as well. i present much in the way of symptoms of something bad having happened to me as a child. i’m working on that now - hey this piece in particular right now - sending chills up and down my spine that there is some kind of beauty and truth in music that is so much better than the hurtful ways of the human animal - my therapy and life in general these days is wearing on me and i’m so torn down and in a bad place but there is nature in the park and music to help me to hold on. i’ve i’ve posted the following before its worth a second time. here it is and it means so much - that… might i be the bird…
