This is a not great photo taken on my first trip to London. Again, not a great photo, but it has great meaning for me. It was one of my first international trips, and one which I took by myself. I had no idea I could go to another country, feed myself, get around town and get myself back to the airport. Afterwards, I began to travel a lot. Now I've been back to England several times, as well as taking trips to Scotland and Germany. I've learned how to take trains, check in and out of hotels, and find the best shopping areas. The SECOND we are in a safer space, I'm going back to the UK. I can't wait.

The hut doesn't exist anymore. The car was sold. The trees must be still there though. This was taken in a Sunday during the "hard times", parents decided we went in a trip to ease up. We had a lot of photos. The anxiety is visible in everyone's eyes in the photos I took.

Looking back, I think even in the worst times there is something to celebrate. We fake a few smiles for the camera and it seems almost okay when I reviewed them before posting.

Very nice to have a café, thanks for opening it Cybele.

Tysm for the tags @cymbele & @Kiwi2016 I will tag some more people too :) @Autumn1973 @foreverforgotten @extraterrestrialone @MisterBGone @Road to Nowhere @Livelife

Wonderful pix everyone has posted here wow! :)
I have a hard time picking a single fave a lot of the time, and when it comes to pix of things especially so these are some of my faves.

marchcollage.png

The reasons they are meaningful to me:

1. Black cat - Our current kitty, her name is Bella and she is very sweet, loving, adorable and will be 2 years old next month.
2. Redwoods trees art - Never been to the Redwoods forest but it's one of the places I want to go more than anywhere else in the world right now.
3. Brown & white kitty - A kitty we had years ago, she was very special to me (her name was Chloe) and she's the pet I had for the longest amount of time in my life. We had her from the time she was a kitten til she was 17 years old. I lived with her for a total of 10 years of my life.
4. Rainbow infinity heart - Cos I love the idea of love being infinite. Also cos it's how much love I feel for the things and people I love.
5. Mark Hamill - Picked this particular pic of him because the expression on his face reminds me of my uncle who I haven't seen or talked to for over 15 years now (he's still alive but dunno where he is, long story). I also just really love this pic of him anyway and he is special to me because of being a big part of what gave me hope back in 2018 and has given me hope ever since :)
6. Rabbit - Kind of a long story with this somewhat so I'll keep it short and just say - rabbits are very special to me.
7. Girl holding flower art - Not necessarily about the specific pic so much as the fact that it's art. I love art very much, many different styles of it.
8. Redwoods again - A non-art Redwoods pic, same reason as #2 :p ;)
9. Rainbow peace sign - Cos I love rainbows and trying to keep the peace as much as possible.
The border of this whole collage is pink cos it's one of my fave colors :p

Hey @cymbele thank you for the Cafe and the invite :D I agree, the lack of Cafes is troublesome, Im thinking if this keeps up I may have to do a weekly one on my own, maybe just pick a day of the week and always post a Jims Cafe on that day?

Anyway, this is a Picture of the Square in University of East Anglia, so named for the shape it USED to be.

This university is seriously ugly, but also so alive. My time spent here was simultaneously the best and worst days of my life. Love, grief, depression, friendships, betrayals, achievements, failures, freedom, constraint, beautiful art and ugly buildings, faith, study, and SO much alcohol. I am just sad that my depression stopped me from fully enjoying my time there. Most of my best and most ridiculously impressive stories are from my time at University, it is a place of limitless possibilities, and simultaneously (for me at least) and place of my greatest hopelessness.

Its not many universities where you can visit your local pubs and clubs, go to a poetry reading, wander down to the shops, visit the bank, lose yourself among the shelves of a library or a bookshop, learn an instrument, go to the gym, go climbing, meet friends, attend a decent gig by a popular band, go to the cinema, meet a beautiful woman in a quiet cafe, buy a bike and go cycling around a scenic lake, head out on guy fawkes night for a spectacular fare and firework display, go to an art gallery, or just go to a play, all without ever leaving campus, and as ugly as the buildings were, the grounds were lovely... oh and on weekends... fucking MILLIONS of bunnies swarm the whole campus. Bunnies as far as the eye can see.

Our rather uninspired unofficial university song clearly stated that the 3 things we had there in greatest abundance was Concrete, Tits, and Rabbits.

Not kidding, it was like this over the entire golf-course sized campus whenever things quieted down.

Apart from the bunnies - which seems like the best thing ever - I relate so much to all you described (again...). I guess the bad outweighed the good for me, I never want to go back to that city again (perhaps it wouldn't be the case if we had those bunnies!), but I miss some parts of it and I'm glad you reminded me of them. :)

Also, what is it about universities looking alike? :p Here is our "Place des Sciences" where I spent most of my days (and nights, but *shh) :

Need to hear those stories. ;)
