One more Christmas memory

I remember hearing this song for the first time when my parents got divorced. I was sitting in the back of mom's car going somewhere for the holidays, and heard it on the radio on my Sony Walkman (young people, google it) and just laughing hysterically. It got me out of my depression and made me feel happy for a bit.

thank you sassy for opening the cafe. i don't have a particular special christmas memory. i guess my favourite christmas would be when I'm hungry and we have loads of food to eat. or when i was small and got presents and was too small to understand anything!!

merry christmas and a peaceful new year to all

Excellent topic. Well, I have a few thoughts. One is that growing up, my mom and me would often fly out to MN to visit the extended family for Xmas -- this was literally the only time I ever really saw my extended family. So I associate the holiday with opening lots of gifts (being a kid), seeing lots of family, and having no school. All good memories.

The last Christmas I ever had really was in 2014. My mom had been diagnosed on Xmas eve with dementia, and my wife and I were separated. But my wife came and we went to mom's house, and spent day together, had a brunch and mimosas, opened gifts. My wife had gotten me a very nice guitar so I played for them. We lounged and listened to music.

I haven't really had a holiday since then, have had no family. This year is the first time since that I'm not actively suicidal through the holidays, despite being totally alone still. I'm trying to just get through them, but also still feel some sense that it is Christmas, and hope everyone is doing okay or even having a nice time with the holidays.

My best younger memories involve the years I spent having Christmastime in Miami Beach at my grandparent's hotel, sliding down the banisters, playing shuffleboard with the ol folk, eating at Wolfie's Deli and the Eden Roc and FontaineBleau, swimming in the ocean, shopping on Lincoln Road... back in the 60's and early 70's. Playing gin and pinochle with my grandfather and father. Mahjong with the ladies and drinking fresh squeezed orange juice all the time.

Forgot to relate my most memorable christmas..

Probably last year, actually... I slept in, got up at 9, made some awesome gourmet coffee and waffles and bacon, cranked some tunes, watched some great non-holiday movies, and ordered a Chinese food feast for dinner. I did presents with my son the following day (Boxing Day)

It was a very restful, decadent, hedonistic Dec 25th ๐Ÿ˜

I can't think of anything specifically, but I know Christmas was much more fun as a kid. It's not all bad now, but not as magical I guess you could say.
Hope everyone is having a good day, whether you celebrate or not.

It's been a really bad Christmas. I don't wanna talk about specifics, but things just aren't going well. Thankfully my best friend talked to me a little to try and cheer me up

*hugBaywasp. Some holidays suck. Mine started out good and went down hill, and I bet we aren't alone in not enjoying things today.
